Job Description: The Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing and analyzing product costs, inventory valuation, Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy, and variance analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cost accounting principles and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance cost efficiency and financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

1.Cost Analysis & Reporting

  • Calculate and analyze product costs, including direct labor, materials, and overhead allocations.
  • Prepare detailed cost reports and provide recommendations for improving cost efficiency.
  • Monitor cost trends and variances, and report deviations to management.

2.Bill of Materials (BOM) Management

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of BOMs for all products and projects.
  • Collaborate with the engineering, production, and procurement teams to update and maintain BOM records.
  • Analyze BOM changes and their impact on product costs and profitability.
  • Perform regular audits of BOMs to ensure cost structures align with actual usage.

3.Inventory Valuation & Reconciliation

  • Ensure accurate valuation of inventory, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Perform regular physical inventory reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining inventory costing methods aligned with company policies.

4.Variance Analysis

  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances, and provide explanations for significant deviations.
  • Recommend actions to improve cost control and reduce variances.

5.Financial Reporting

  • Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing cost accounting entries.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of cost accounting activities for financial statements.

6.Process Improvement

  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance the accuracy of cost data and streamline workflows.
  • Collaborate with the operations and procurement teams to optimize cost management.

7.Audit Support

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing cost-related schedules and providing necessary documentation.

Qualifications & Skills


•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).


•3+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a tech or manufacturing environment.


•Strong knowledge of cost accounting methodologies, BOM management, and inventory control.


•Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.


•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


•Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under tight deadlines.


•Effective communication and collaboration skills.
