Assistant Manager, Legal Counsel

As a Legal Counsel, you will be providing legal, corporate, and commercial support to the business divisions and partner them in advising on legal and governance issues. Besides advising on compliance and governance issues, you will need to draft and review various types of contracts and agreements, advising on litigation, general contract law, corporate law, real estate, intellectual property law, technology law, data privacy law, etc. The candidate would also be required to assist Board - related matters which would include the management of the Board from time to time. You will be reporting to and assisting a more senior legal counsel who reports to the Chief of Legal and Board Secretariat. This role requires the candidate to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritise, and follow through on concurrent deliverables while meeting business deadlines.
Legal Advice
- Provide legal advice on operational matters
- Provide advice on PDPA, Employment Act and other regulatory compliance
- Review and provide advice on contracts and agreements advising on litigation, general contract law, corporate law, real estate, intellectual property law, technology law and data privacy law
- Handle complex matters with multiple stakeholders which contributes significantly to decision-making within a dynamic business environment
Contract Management
- Assist in setting up a framework and structure to support the management of contracts, memorandum of understanding and partnership agreements
- Support the business divisions in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- Draft, review various types of contracts and agreements advising on litigation, general contract law, corporate law, real estate, intellectual property law, technology law and data privacy law etc
Corporate Governance
- Review processes in the company and ensure compliance with the law
- May be required to assist the company secretary and board secretariat from time to time in drafting of board meeting minutes
Job Requirements
- A LLB or JD degree or equivalent from a recognized University with 2 to 4 years’ post qualification experience (prior in-house legal experience would be preferred) and have been admitted to the Singapore Bar
- Strong and concise drafting skills and commercial savviness are pre-requisites
- Highly motivated self-starter and versatile team player
- Adaptable to changes and embrace improvements in a highly progressive organisation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good attention to detail
- Ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Maintain close collaboration with legal teams from other organisations within the public healthcare cluster
- Able to work independently, prioritise, and follow through on multiple, concurrent, and often competing deliverables, while managing expectations of the business and meeting deadlines
- Background in data privacy law would be considered a bonus
