Job Summary
The Head of Data and Analytics Metrics and Monitoring is responsible for implementing metrics and monitoring across the data and analytics landscape within Standard Chartered Bank. This includes all data management activities as well as business intelligence (BI) and advanced analytics. The role ensures the timely and accurate reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics critical to the success of the data and analytics functions and the Chief Data Office (CDO). The Head will have a comprehensive understanding of the data lifecycle, data governance, data management, BI, and advanced analytics, and will oversee the design, build, test, deployment, and management of a large-scale metrics solution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
• Develop and implement a comprehensive metrics and monitoring framework aligned with the strategic objectives of the CDO organization and the bank.
• Provide strategic direction and leadership for metrics and monitoring initiatives within the data and analytics landscape.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the design and implementation of metrics and monitoring systems.
Business
• Collaborate with various departments and teams to gather data and ensure alignment on metrics and reporting requirements.
• Act as the main point of contact for metrics and monitoring-related queries and concerns.
• Lead the analysis of key performance metrics for the data and analytics balanced scorecard, including stakeholder, customer, information value processes, and capacity value perspectives.
• Prepare and present regular reports on the performance of data initiatives and data management to senior management and stakeholders.
Technical Oversight:
• Work with technology teams to develop robust monitoring systems to track the performance of data initiatives and projects.
• Ensure the integration of monitoring tools with existing data infrastructure to provide real-time insights.
• Partner with technology teams to identify, deploy, and enhance key technology initiatives aimed at improving the metrics and monitoring framework.
• Ensure relevant dashboards are built and published for key stakeholders.

• Propose and implement enhancements to the metrics framework and monitoring systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Develop and support the implementation of processes to build and maintain the metrics and monitoring framework, collaborating with technical teams as required.
• Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development to ensure team members are competent, suitably skilled, and qualified for their roles.

• Build and lead a team of data reporting and monitoring specialists.
• Proven experience in managing large distributed global teams.
• Demonstrate expertise and operational knowledge to ensure leadership, mentoring, and governance across the function.

• Promote and embed a culture of openness, trust, and risk awareness, ensuring ethical, legal, regulatory, and policy-compliant conduct.
• Stimulate an environment where forward planning, prioritization, deadline management, streamlined workflows, and collaborative, inclusive, effective, and efficient work practices are the norm.
• Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development to ensure that team members are competent, suitably skilled, and qualified for their roles, providing effective supervision to mitigate any risks.
• Review team structure and capacity plans to maintain an effective and efficient risk management framework, managing attrition as needed.
• Support diversity and inclusion in the workforce.
• Build succession plans.
Governance and Risk Management
• Implement quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of metrics and reports.
• Conduct regular audits and reviews of the metrics and monitoring systems to identify and address any issues.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and other internal policies.
• Promote a culture of risk awareness and ensure effective risk management.
Regulatory & Business Conduct:
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters.
• Lead the team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.
Skills and Experience
Key stakeholders
• Influence senior leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure the success of the metrics and monitoring programme.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, business unit leaders, country leaders, IT teams, BI teams, advanced analytics teams, HR, and data management teams.
• Engage stakeholders in the development and implementation of metrics and monitoring strategies.
Other Responsibilities
• Embed Here for Good and Group’s brand and values in the team.
• Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business, or Functional policies and procedures.
Our Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of experience in Data management, governance, data analytics, data engineering, data modelling, metrics monitoring, or a related field
- Proven track record of developing and implementing metrics and monitoring frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information to a non-technical audience.
- Experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and technologies.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of data analysis, data architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, data science, machine learning, and ETL techniques and technologies.
- Understanding of banking systems and business models.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in managing large distributed global teams.
- Certified change manager (Prosci-Adkar) preferred.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology, data science, or a related field as described above.
- AWS certified cloud solution architect or equivalent (AZURE or GCP)
- AWS certified database specialty or equivalent (AZURE or GCP)
- AWS certified machine learning and Gen AI specialty or equivalent (AZURE or CGP)
