Job Purpose

The IB PYP Coordinator is responsible for teaching, leading and implementing the Primary Years Programme (PYP) within the school. This role requires a passionate, dynamic, and experienced educator who will ensure the quality, compliance, and development of the PYP curriculum while fostering a collaborative and inquiry-driven learning environment. The ideal candidate will serve as a mentor to teachers, liaise with stakeholders, and maintain compliance with IB and SSG requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties

  • Teach in English the IB programe to one or more classes.
  • Ensure all staff members have access to IB PYP publications and resources.
  • Develop, review, and oversee the school's Programme of Inquiry and curriculum scope and sequence.
  • Maintain archives of PYP planning documents and evidence from the PYP Exhibition.
  • Participate in the formation and execution of the school's action plan.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of the curriculum, ensuring alignment with IB and SSG standards.
  • Support the Principal in overseeing daily operations and staffing matters.
  • Assume responsibility for operations and staff coordination in the absence of the Principal.
  • Establish and maintain communication and collaboration systems among staff members.

  • Adhere to and implement the School's policies.
  • Contribute to the Extra-Curricular Activities programme.

If while carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School Principal so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third-party services.

Job Competencies

High Quality Teaching Practice

  • Monitor and uphold high-quality teaching standards within the PYP framework.
  • Develop and implement a system for teacher performance appraisal.
  • Identify and plan professional development opportunities for all teaching staff.
  • Provide pedagogical support, mentorship, and training in curriculum matters.
  • Facilitate school visits and external professional development engagements.
  • Recommend and manage appropriate resources to support curriculum implementation.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of curriculum-related materials and facilitate efficient resource management.

Contribution to Learning Area and Curriculum Development

  • Ensure all staff members have access to IB PYP publications and resources.

Relationships with Students, Staff and Parents

  • Liaise with IB and SSG regarding curriculum matters.
  • Organize and lead parent information sessions related to IB PYP.
  • Publish articles and updates on curriculum initiatives in the school newsletter.
  • Ensure proper documentation is prepared and submitted for authorization and evaluation purposes.
  • Lead community outreach initiatives to promote collaboration and educational engagement.
