Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description:

  • Responsible for assisting in offload/bunkering operations, gauging and sample collection from cargo and Slops tanks, dosing of chemicals in Slops, assist in ODME operations, pump room duties, supporting Marine Supt on COW and Tank Cleaning operations, Cargo/Slop tank isolation, according to Marine Supt instruction, routine maintenance of marine equipment aiming to ensure that all activities are conducted safely, efficiently and economically on the unit that he is assigned to, in in compliance with MODEC procedures, national and international regulations and standards.
  • Assist in safe mooring/unmooring operation, cargo hose connection, bunker hose connection, monitoring ofoffloading cargo and bunkering operations, collect samples during offload operations as per procedures, safety standards, task risk assessment and toolbox instructions, in order to ensure their safety and compliance with internal and external procedures and regulations.
  • Contribute to the unit's annual budget planning (expenses and investments), by participating of the corporate planning, providing information about resources, replacements, services and materials needs and other expenses used in its activities, liaising with the Marine team to ensure accurate information.
  • Assist in checking specification of loaded oil by gauging and sampling of the cargo and slop tanks.
  • Assist in checking FPSO integrity by checking soundings and gas levels inside void spaces.
  • Contribute to an effective response to emergencies on board by being part of the Emergency Response Team,participating in all trainings, simulations and acting properly in a real situation, in accordance with MODEC's procedures, guidelines, as well as national and international regulations and best practices, in order to minimize impacts to people, the environment, assets and the company's reputation.
  • Assist in reducing H2S levels in the slops by dosing Sodium Hypochlorite and Biocide in the Slop tanks as per Cargo Supervisor instructions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of MdB fleet performance by participating or leading, when required, RCAs, investigations of NOIs/NODs, HAZID/HAZOPs, following up and acting upon CAPAs, sharing lessons learnedand promoting a culture of continuous seek for performance and integrity enhancement opportunities.
  • Ensure the alignment of the employees with Company Objectives, Policies, Procedures and integration with Clients, Community, Suppliers and Modec do Brazil Executive Team, by leading and engaging them, providing technical and behavioral guidance and feedbacks sessions and clarifying the Career Path, in accordance with MdB's procedures and guides.
  • Communicate to the Cargo Supervisor all marine or safety systems' potential and actual incidents or defects, taking positive actions to stop hazards and unsafe behaviors, request technical advice as necessary and prepare, follow up and close out any necessary vendor assistance on board for the Marine department, in liaison with relevant leaderships.
  • If necessary, support in the activities of inspection of luggage, people and cargo on the disembark from offshore units, in compliance with NORMAM 27 – item 0115, regarding dangerous items handling.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Degree is required.
  • Technical Degree or Petty Office Engineer (Able Seafarer Engine) is required.
  • Technician I/II/III/IV: Minimum 2/4/7 years' overall experience is expected.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience offshore on Oil tanker/LPGLNG/VLCC/F(P)SOs, of which minimum 1 year' experience in Pumpman or Petty Officer Engineer position is expected.
