Roles & Responsibilities

Description


Designs and drafts electrical/ construction drawings for modification works and provides technical leadership, technical advice on all plant online electrical and instrumentation systems such as motors, drives, instruments, PLC, DCS and SIS controller. Leads and supervises the E&I team to execute preventive and predictive program to achieve output KPIs.


Responsibilities

  • To lead and supervise the E&I team to execute preventive and predictive program.
  • To review and provide input on technical drawings, SLD and control circuits.
  • To troubleshoot and determine necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • To perform required maintenance duties as needed on an on-call basis as scheduled.
  • To perform root cause analysis of failures and develop counter-measures to prevent future failing of Equipment.
  • To understand the basic system design concept of different instrument measurements/ automation in the plant.
  • To participate in shutdown work planning and execution.
  • To perform spare parts planning and follow-up with vendors.
  • To comply to and update plant documentation such as as-built, instrument electrical hook-up/ DCS and PLC cabinet drawings etc.
  • To set-up and update the instrument/ electrical maintenance programmes and schedules.
  • To initiate and prepare handover to subordinates/ contractors and ensure all maintenance checks are completed and documented, adhering to company standards for equipment installation.
  • To repair and maintain plant instrumentation systems.
  • To repair and calibrate instruments used for various process measurements and controls throughout the plant process areas.
  • To measure and report the effectiveness of department activities.
  • To develop and maintain departmental work instructions for all tasks.
  • To perform weekly inspection and take an inventory of tools and equipment and submit requisition to replace broken or missing items.
  • To monitor and update daily manpower reports and feedback on any shortages.
  • To plan and enforce E&I works according to schedule and specified targets.
  • To supervise and monitor every aspect of the status and progress of the works.
  • To prepare and review method statement and risk assessment.
  • To communicate and work closely with workers and contractors to plan for priority activities in line with sequence of works and maintain material and works quality/ standards according to project specifications.
  • To attend weekly sub-contractor meeting and provide feedbacks on all site issues and assist in providing solutions to resolve the problems.
  • To supervise and monitor every aspects the status and progress of the works.
  • To prepare and update weekly progress report and submit to Planning Department.
  • To prepare request for inspection according to approve Inspection Test Plan (ITP).
  • To communicate engineering/ technical/ quality requirements to the team.
  • To assist the Superintendent or Engineer to perform planning of labour, tools and materials.
  • To supervise and inspect electrical and instrumentation construction on site buildings, common facilities and erection.
  • To direct involvements and supports of safety controls to workers all the time and maintain safe work environment, ensuring that team members adhere to safe working practices.
  • To actively participate in safety programs and implementation such as speaking at toolbox meetings.
  • To complete Work Orders and document the time, tasks and parts/supplies needed to complete the Work Order in the software.
  • To maintain updated documentation of all electrical and/or instrumentation changes implemented by said individual or contractors hired by the plant.
  • To lead shift activities/ team building/ good communication skills.
  • Any other tasks and responsibilities assigned from time to time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Oil/Gas/Petrol Chemical environment preferred
  • Competent in E&I maintenance and project work.
  • Good knowledge in Electrical / Instrument equipment and parts.
  • Able to perform minor design work.
  • Experience in preparing quotation/tender for E&I work is an added advantage
