Algorithmics Financial Engineer

Algorithmics' solutions deliver the risk analytics clients need to address the impact of business and regulatory changes; including X-Value Adjustment (xVA), Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB), Standardized Approach for Counterparty Credit Risk (SA-CCR), Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) and Targeted Review of Internal Models (TRIM).

Supported by a global team of risk experts based in all major financial centers, Algorithmics' solutions and technology address market, credit and liquidity risk, as well as capital management.

SS&C completed the acquisition of Algorithmics assets from IBM on Dec 2nd, 2019.

SS&C Algorithmics Global Support, APAC

The SS&C Algorithmics Global Support team provides support to clients across the various regions using SS&C Algorithmics products in production. These clients have already been through the implementation cycle and understand our software, risk management processes and IT in general.

The group also provides direct support to third-party integrators who may be implementing SS&C Algorithmics products at client sites or at their own offices.

The team comprises integration engineers, Financial Professional (Financial engineers), and post-implementation consultants, providing a balance of technical IT and financial modelling expertise. Support is provided via telephone and e-mail in the first instance, and by on-site visits if necessary.

The key responsibility of Financial Professional (Financial Engineer) in SS&C Algorithmics Support is to provide functional and financial modelling expertise to clients after the initial implementation project has been complete. The work has a strong focus on financial, data and modelling aspects.

Based in Singapore, you will generally be working as part of a cross-functional team comprising Financial Professional (Financial Engineers) and Integration Engineers from Global Support.

What You Will Get To Do:

  • Financial validation and modelling of clients' portfolios across the whole spectrum of Financial Instruments. Assisting clients in financial validation of models.
  • Provide advice on the implementation of Risk Management Software to assess Market and Credit risk
  • Provide training and support to clients
  • Assisting clients in the implementation of firm-wide risk management processes and applications
  • Verification of software implementations / upgrades.
  • Providing advice to clients on utilization of the software for various risk management objectives
  • Documentation of financial modelling definitions as implemented
  • Client advocate for key support accounts

Support work is conducted largely at SS&C Singapore, 1 Raffles Quay, #29-01, Singapore 048583. Some travel can be expected to client sites, as well as opportunities to work on clients' site-based projects in the APAC region.

What You Will Bring:

  • Good degree. At least a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from reputable university in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative discipline.
  • Mathematics to at least A-level or equivalent
  • Advanced degree or master's in financial engineering or Mathematical Finance

Competencies and Skills

  • Familiarity with pricing and modelling of financial products. Must at least know the concepts in Hull: "Options, Futures and other Derivatives".
  • Practical knowledge of investment markets, financial market conventions, and risk management practices (Risk Management experience highly desirable)
  • Good theoretical understanding of financial economics, financial mathematics and statistics
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills; good command of English and Mandarin, both spoken and written. Must be able to convey complex ideas to a variety of functional and technical audiences.
  • Ability to steer and direct issue investigation from the functional side.
  • Willingness and ability to travel

Required Technical Skills

Hands-on experience of at least one of following languages

  • VBA

  • C/C++ would be an advantage

  • Shell scripting
