Nanyang Technological University (NTU)invites applications for a position of AssistantProfessor (Tenure Track)/Associate Professor (Tenure Track/Tenured)in "Wide Band Gap Growth, Device design andFabrication".

We are seeking a candidate whowill develop, lead and sustain research of an internationalstandard in "Wide Band Gap Growth, Device design, Fabrication andCharacterisation". The candidate should possess strong experimentaland theoretical expertise in Wide Band Gap (e.g. GaN, SiC, Ga2O3,Diamond etc.) growth, device design, fabrication andcharacterisation for novel devices (e.g. Vertical FETs, HEMTs,MISHEMTs, FinFETs etc.) for high-power and high-frequencyapplications.

This position will be held at theSchool of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE).Areas and priorities that we wish to develop and supportthrough this appointment include:
  • WideBand Gap epitaxial growth on various substrates (Si, SiC, diamondetc.).
  • Wide Band Gap material characterisationtechniques (e.g. Hall, XRD, PL etc).
  • Design ofadvanced Wide Band Gap structures particularly for high-power andhigh-frequency applications.
  • Semiconductorwafer fabrication processes including III-V compound semiconductorand/or CMOS-compatible wafer fabricationtechniques.
  • Electrical characterisation ofdevices including DC and RF techniques (e.g. semiconductorparameter analyser, pulsed I-V, signal and large signal RFmeasurements etc.), andreliability.


Responsibilities
  • Developand lead an innovative research programme of internationalquality.
  • Publish high quality papers inreputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Securecompetitive research grants.
  • Give talks atinternational conferences and supervise researchpersonnel.
  • Contribute to teaching and coursedevelopment at the undergraduate and postgraduatelevels.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduatestudents undertaking researchprojects.
  • Undertake administrative and/orleadership roles.
  • Contribute to otherservice-related activities assigned by School andUniversity.


Requirements

KnowledgeandQualifications

Essential:
  • PhDin Wide Band Gap or a relateddiscipline
  • Extensive knowledge of currentresearch within the fields of Wide Band Gap epitaxial growth,device design, fabrication andcharacterisation.
  • Evidence of a developinginternational reputation in this field of research, for examplefellowships, awards, invited presentations at internationalconferences, journal editorships orotherwise.
  • Established track record of academicpublications of international quality.
  • Proventrack record of securing funding as Co-I or leadinvestigator.

Desirable:
  • Membershipof relevant discipline or professional body/learnedsociety.

  • Excellent communicationand presentation skills, both oral andwritten.

Experience

Essential:
  • Strongtrack record of relevant research and broader academicexperience.
  • Experience of successful teaching,tutoring and mentoring of research students and undergraduatestudents.
  • Experience as PI or key contributoron external research grants.
  • Strong and growingreputation for research leadership in an area which will broadenand strengthen the Institute's researchactivities.
  • Experience in leading successfulresearch grant applications, collaborations and in managingprojects.
  • A strong track record of gainingresearch funding.
  • Significant broad teachingexperience at undergraduate and postgraduatelevel.

Desirable:
  • Experiencein curriculum development, marking andassessment.
  • Experience of supervision of higherdegrees (PhD).
  • Experience in cross-disciplinaryresearch initiatives, and international/industrialcollaborations.
