Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct real-time monitoring and analysis of security log data from various security systems and devices to detect potential threats.
  • Maintain and optimize data sources feeding the log monitoring system, while developing and refining detection and alerting rules.
  • Investigate security incidents reported by users, assess their severity, and determine appropriate response actions.
  • Perform initial triage of security alerts to identify false positives and escalate genuine threats accordingly.
  • Identify recurring security risks and vulnerabilities, develop mitigation strategies, and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, interpreting and applying them effectively across the organization.
  • Develop and implement escalation processes for security incidents, along with contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Provide second-level support for security devices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPN concentrators, and other security appliances.
  • Respond to security alerts and incidents, investigating potential breaches and mitigating threats in coordination with the incident response team.
  • Configure and maintain security infrastructure to align with industry best practices and organizational security policies.
  • Monitor and manage firewall rules and access control lists (ACLs), ensuring authorized traffic is permitted while blocking potential threats.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and collaborate with IT teams to remediate identified security gaps.
  • Assist in security audits and compliance assessments, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze network traffic for suspicious activity using security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of security configurations, incident reports, and standard operating procedures.
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness among employees and provide guidance on best security practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT support, system administrators, and network engineers, to address security-related concerns.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in ICT security operations or a similar cybersecurity role.
  • Strong understanding of security concepts, threat analysis, and incident response methodologies.
  • Strong hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, antivirus, and SIEM tools.
  • Familiarity with security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS).
  • Understanding of network protocols and security mechanisms, including TCP/IP, encryption, and authentication methods.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and mitigate security threats.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work under pressure, and respond promptly to security incidents.
  • Should have at least one of the relevant certifications like CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, NSE4, PCNSA, FCP, HCIA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with CATO security solutions is preferred.
  • should be willing to work in a 1 year contract.
