The ATMRI (Air Traffic Management Research Institute inSingapore) invites applications for the position of Senior ResearchFellow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist PI with projectmanagement and lead/mentor researchteam.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectivelywith industrial and academic partners.
  • Work inmultidisciplinary teams to design innovative human-machineinterfaces for addressing complex challenges in AI-assisted airtraffic control systems.
  • Conduct user researchand needs-finding studies to identify user problems and designrequirements. Utilize a flexible and creative approach, employingsuitable methods and techniques tailored to differentcontexts.
  • Collaborate closely with otherresearch fellows, research engineers, and research associatesspecializing in AI, optimization, and control to prototype andexplore interface designs that effectively support human-AIcollaboration in air traffic control.
  • Designand lead user studies to evaluate interface designs, preferablyutilizing both quantitative and qualitative approaches to gathercomprehensive feedback.
  • Write and publishresearch findings as journal articles, conference papers, ortechnical reports to contribute to the academic and professionaldiscourse in thefield.


JobRequirements:
  • PhD degree inHuman-Computer Interaction or Computer Science with aspecialization on information visualization, human-machineinteraction.
  • A minimum of 4 years of post-docexperience in the domain of HMI.
  • Extensiveknowledge and experience in user interface design incorporatingcomplex information
  • Solid programming skills(JavaScript, HTML or alike, Python, C#) aredesired.
  • Comfortable with UI prototyping toolslike Figma, Adobe XD, etc.
  • Passionate incrafting and exploring various interface/visualization designs withrigorous considerations on users'needs
  • Experienced with designing and conductinguser studies using both qualitative and quantitativeapproaches.
  • Track record of publications atHCI/HMI or information visualization venues is required (CHI, UIST,DIS, IUI, AVI, INTERACT, etc.)
  • Independent andteam player.
  • Excellent English writing andcommunication skills
  • Prior experience inhuman-AI collaboration research.
  • Experience andinterest in developing user interfaces and interactions thatintegrate emerging technologies such as speech-to-text, gazetracking, or other relevant.
  • Familiarity withhuman-machine interfaces in safety-critical environments, such asmanufacturing, air traffic control, vehicle maneuvering,etc.
