This is an ambitious, growing energy trading company based in Asia. As part of the business expansion plans in the region, there is now an opportunity as a Credit Risk Manager to drive the strategy, implementation plans and execution of the credit function in Singapore.

Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Credit Risk Manager will own the credit risk management function, working closely with the front office in performing credit and forward-looking business analysis on a diverse portfolio of counterparties ranging from large corporates to smaller trading and bunkering counterparties. In owning the Credit function, he/she would be expected to perform the below mentioned but not limited to functions:

  • Conduct thorough credit assessments of counterparties, analyzing financial statements, credit reports, market trends, and other relevant data.
  • Evaluate and monitor credit limits, exposures, and risk ratings for clients, ensuring compliance with established risk policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trading, finance, and legal, to assess and mitigate credit risks associated with trading activities.
  • Stay updated on market trends, economic developments, and industry news to provide insightful credit risk analysis and recommendations.
  • Prepare concise and accurate credit risk reports for senior management and participate in risk committee discussions.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of credit risk methodologies, models, and processes to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of risk assessments.

He/ She will also serve as a key business partner to develop and execute business unit strategies and goals in the region and play a significant role in addressing queries from external stakeholders including but not limited to banks, trading counterparties.

Requirements

The successful candidate is degree qualified in a business/ finance discipline with at least 8 years' regional counterparty credit experience gained in Commodities trading or global banks ideally in energy trading. You have strong business partnering, problem solving, analytical and change management experience. You will also be described as possessing excellent communication and presentation skills.
