What is EXSEL
EXSEL, a new initiative set up in 2023, aimed to equip children, aged 7–12 years old with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills and knowledge via a workshop delivery concept. Pairing the CASEL Model (5 Competencies – Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills and Responsible Decision-Making), with fun and engaging activities, children are empowered in their SEL journey to become sensitive, sensible and compassionate citizens in a VUCA world.
Job Summary:
The EXSEL Coach supports the EXSEL Manager in planning, delivering and marketing the EXSEL workshops. He/she is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations and ensuring the smooth execution of programmes. As an independent and mature individual, he/she delivers EXSEL workshops and services in a variety of environments, working closely with children aged 7-12 years old.
The EXSEL Coach enriches children’s learning through implementing curriculum and adopting developmentally appropriate teaching and classroom management strategies. He/she likes building trusted relationships, creating a cooperative and engaging learning environment, and is also adaptable and adept at managing multiple internal and external stakeholders.
He/She is not afraid to try and develop new creative ideas, be it in marketing of the programme or planning of lessons.
The incumbent is expected to work from 9:00am to 6:00pm on weekdays and from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays.

Key responsibility areas
Programme Execution (Workshop)
- Able to deliver and facilitate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) workshops with children ages 7-12 years old, in schools and community settings, including but not limited to:
- Facilitating discussions, responding to queries with small and large groups of children
- Creating a motivational, fun and inspiring learning experience
- Ensuring curriculum fidelity as designed, and developing a mastery of the content
- Achieving knowledge and skills transfer by meeting learning objectives
- Confident and effective in classroom management skills
EXSEL Programme Operations and Management
- Plan and prepare lessons and activities to support the children’s Social-Emotional Learning
- Evaluates curriculum effectiveness and recommends improvements from learners’ feedbacks; analyzing delivery approaches and materials
- Carry out pre-workshop preparation of logistics and curating necessary materials
- Conduct post-workshop data gathering and prepare reports for stakeholders and management
Marketing of Programme
- Resourceful in identifying new markets and work together with the team to create marketing leads to promote EXSEL programme.
Stakeholder Management
- Able to handle stakeholders respectfully in a challenging environment
*Additional Role for Senior Coach
- Candidates will serve as an account manager to regular clients
- He/She will supervise the Coach
- He/She will be second in line to the Manager, and may represent the department as needed.
Requirements
Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in similar roles or direct social service preferred
- Working knowledge of Social-Emotional Learning needs of children is a plus and/or having a keen interest to equip children with SEL skills and knowledge
- Good knowledge of children’s different learning abilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Counselling, or any other discipline with relevance to SEL or children’s holistic development
- MOE-Registered Instructor preferred
