Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Field Service Engineer Lead to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of Koollogix cooling systems in data centers. This role requires managing a team of technicians who are on 24/7 standby to provide rapid, expert service. You will ensure timely response to service activations, maintain system reliability, and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction while adhering to tight response times and high-performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 24/7 Standby Operations:Manage a 24/7 on-call schedule for yourself and your team, ensuring readiness to respond to service requests at any time.
    Coordinate and deploy resources to ensure arrival at customer sites within a 2-hour response window.
    Monitor and optimize the team's availability and readiness to handle emergencies efficiently.
  • Team Leadership and Management:Lead, train, and mentor a team of service technicians to ensure technical excellence and adherence to company standards.
    Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring service activities are completed promptly and to the highest quality.
    Provide technical guidance, training and support to team members for complex troubleshooting and repairs.
    Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to support team development.
  • Service Planning and Coordination:Develop and maintain a proactive maintenance calendar, minimizing the risk of unplanned downtime.
    Develop and manage maintenance schedules and service calendars to ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
    Coordinate with clients to schedule non-urgent maintenance while maintaining standby capacity for emergency calls.
    Optimize resource allocation and manage spare parts inventory for service delivery
  • Technical Expertise and Execution:Oversee the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of KoolLogix cooling systems.
    Diagnose and resolve advanced technical issues, ensuring minimal impact on critical data center operations.
    Ensure all work complies with industry regulations, safety standards, and client-specific requirements.
    Ensure systems operate at peak efficiency and comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Reporting and Documentation:Maintain detailed records of service activities, including response times, actions taken, and system performance.
    Analyze recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions or system upgrades to enhance reliability.
    Prepare detailed service reports, including findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
    Document maintenance schedules, team activities, and equipment performance metrics.
    Provide regular reports to management on team performance, equipment reliability, and client feedback and contribute to operational improvement initiatives.
  • Client Engagement and Relationship Management:Act as the primary point of contact for clients during emergency and routine service calls.
    Provide clear communication and updates during emergencies, ensuring client confidence in service delivery.
    Build strong relationships with clients, offering expert advice on system improvements and operational best practices.
    Conduct client briefings and presentations to review service outcomes and recommend upgrades or enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related field. Equivalent technical certifications will also be considered.
    3-5+ years of experience in cooling system maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
    Proven experience working in 24/7 standby or rapid response environments, preferably in data centers or critical infrastructure.
  • Skills and Expertise:Strong knowledge of precision cooling systems, including liquid cooling, DX systems, and chilled water systems.
    Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and advanced environmental monitoring tools.
    Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under high-pressure, time-sensitive conditions.
  • Leadership and Planning:Demonstrated ability to lead teams in high-stakes environments.
    Exceptional organizational skills to manage scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
    Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Other Requirements:Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours as needed.
    Valid driver's license and the ability to respond to service calls within a 2-hour window.
    Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Preferred Certifications:

  • EPA Certification for Refrigerant Handling.
  • Data Center-specific certifications (e.g., CDCTP, DCEP).
