About the Office for Space Technology & Industry

The Office for Space Technology & Industry (OSTIn) is Singapore’s national space office. To build up Singapore’s space ecosystem and advance Singapore’s space interests, OSTIn seeks to:
* Nurture the build-up of local space technology capabilities through investments in R&D;
* Grow a globally competitive local space industry;
* Develop policies and regulations to support Singapore’s space activities;
* Expand bilateral and multilateral partnerships, and contribute to strengthening the international governance regime for space activities; and
* Support the development of talent for Singapore’s space sector and future workforce.

You will lead OSTIn’s Strategy & Policy, and International Relations teams. You will drive the implementation of the national space strategy and its associated workstreams, including shaping relevant polices, regulations and advancing Singapore’s interests in the international domain.

[What you will be working on]

In this role, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Strategy & Policy

  • Driving the implementation of Singapore’s national space strategy, working across teams internally and with the whole-of-government
  • Driving reviews of the relevance of the national space strategy along with the constantly evolving landscape, to ensure continual alignment with Singapore’s strategic needs and target economic outcomes
  • Aligning OSTIn’s corporate planning with its space strategy implementation, including finance budgeting, human resourcing and performance reportingLeading the development of domestic space policy, regulations and international policy positions, and harmonise efforts with relevant government agencies
  • Overseeing the creation of space legislation that encourage the growth of Singapore’s space sector with a facilitative regulatory and business environment

International Relations

  • Cultivating relationships with senior officials of foreign space agencies and relevant government authorities to drive international collaborations with OSTIn
  • Managing OSTIn’s participation in international space fora (e.g. United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space) to shape international norms, rules, and regulations for space activities in ways that align with the national space strategy
  • Overseeing efforts in multilateral and bilateral engagements and partnerships that advance Singapore’s international positioning and safeguard Singapore’s interest in space
  • Working across our Industry, Technology and Policy teams to understand OSTIn’s interest areas, and supporting the respective teams’ partnership objectives and development initiatives.

[What we are looking for]

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in leadership roles
  • Background in any disciplines, preferably engineering, science, political science, policy, law, economics, or mass communications
  • Strong interest and passion in the space sector
  • Ability to navigate relationships across cultures
  • Ability to analyse in-depth different complex issues and put forth actionable solutions, and meticulously plan and drive implementation of workstreams
  • Experience with corporate functions (e.g. finance, HR, marketing) would be a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude, have excellent work ethic and a team player
