[What the role is]
Electrical Technical Team oversees the development, construction and commissioning of electrical and control systems of the Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF).

[What you will be working on]

You will be part of the team that is responsible for the construction of an Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF), which comprises a Waste-to-Energy Facility, a Materials Recovery Facility, a Sludge Incineration Facility and a Food Waste Treatment Facility in Tuas South area. Your work will focus mainly in the area of instrumentation, automation and control.  The detailed work scope and responsibilities are as follows:

Construction Phase

  • Work with consultants and contractors to scrutinise design, installation, testing, and commissioning of control systems (e.g. Distributed Control System and Power Management System) and field instruments for IWMF.

  • Setup various IT systems in IWMF such as Enterprise Resource Planning System, Energy Management Information System, Performance Management System.

  • Review contractors’ design submissions such as P&ID, I/O list, control narrative, instrument datasheet, system architecture, hook up drawing and cable layout.

  • Participate and contribute in cross-discipline meetings related to process design such as HAZOP and SIL.

  • Attend factory and site acceptance tests.

  • Work with consultants and contractors to ensure that the control systems and instrumentation equipment of IWMF are installed, tested and commissioned in accordance with design specifications.

  • Opportunity to cross-work in the field of electrical engineering such as operation of maintenance of power generators and transformers, switchgears, motors and electrical protection systems. 

Operational Phase

  • Lead a team of technical specialists in the maintenance of IWMF’s control systems and instrumentation equipment, to ensure high availability and performance of IWMF.

  • Plan and implement preventive maintenance programmes for the facility's control systems and instrumentation equipment.

  • Analyse the performance and causes of unscheduled shutdown of control systems and instrumentation equipment and recommend improvements.

  • Plan and carry out purchase and replenishment of control and instrumentation equipment and spare parts/components.

  • Administer maintenance contracts for control systems and instrumentation equipment.

  • Carry out development projects for control systems and instrumentation equipment.

[What we are looking for]

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Control/Power Engineering or related engineering disciplines.

  • 3-15 years of relevant working experience is preferred. Fresh graduates will also be considered if they are accessed to be able to fit into the job.

  • Good technical background and strong analytical skills. Knowledge in solid waste management would be an advantage. Preference will be given to those who have exhibited interest and good knowledge in instrumentation, automation and control equipment deployed in waste-to-energy or power generation facilities.

  • Mature, independent, resourceful and a good team player.

  • Good interpersonal communication, presentation and writing skills.

  • Able to perform rotating shift work over public holidays and weekends, if required.
