Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer

Responsibilities:

Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Conducts regular maintenance assessments on facility components
  • Performs installations, repairs, and inspections on facility systems, emphasizing energy efficiency
  • Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves complex alarm issues using sound judgment
  • Manages plumbing, fire suppression, and safety systems maintenance
  • Operates essential infrastructures under the guidance of senior technical staff
  • Demonstrates autonomy in daily tasks while receiving guidance on new assignments

Vendor Support

  • Facilitates service provider approval processes for challenging maintenance tasks, ensuring adherence to Equinix's operational protocols
  • Collaborates with vendors to update technical documentation for equipment and systems

Site Administration & Incident Support

  • Maintains site logs for permits like Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts
  • Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and provides recommendations
  • Responds promptly to on-site incidents, resolving issues efficiently
  • Supports on-site administration following established procedures

Work Orders & Additional Projects

  • Processes routine work requests and circuit installations
  • Troubleshoots office equipment and auxiliary machinery to minimize downtime
  • Implements minor changes to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems as required
  • Executes infrastructure projects as assigned

Collaboration

  • Collaborates with colleagues to address facility incidents
  • Provides support and mentorship to team members on maintenance tasks
  • Communicates inventory needs for efficient stock management
  • May propose infrastructure enhancement initiatives

Qualifications:

Typical Degree & Years of Experience

  • Background in Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience
