Within the Energy Storage Development team, we are developing our first Li-ion battery cell with unique techniques and approaches.

The scope of Material and Characterisation team spans across the project, from ensuring high quality and control on materials selection to understanding the behaviour of materials from processes to electrochemical performances in the final product.


About the role:

  • This project will start with familiarisation of the ESD teams and activities of lithiumion cell development
  • Understand the fundamentals of cells, qualitative and quantitative material properties characterization, and manufacturing processes related to cell engineering materials.
  • You will be involved in anode development from raw materials to small cell prototyping to demonstrate technology improvement
  • You will be designing, performing and optimising processes involved in electrode fabrication and its integration within cells, evaluating electrochemical performance
  • You will diligently ensure proper documentation and upkeep of technical data, laboratory procedures, and materials
  • You will be working closely with internal multifunctional teams, engaging with materials and equipment suppliers


Working alongside your team/engineers, scientists, and technical experts across a broad range of disciplines, you'll be comfortable learning from others but also sharing your own knowledge, ideas and opinions.

About you:

  • Degree in material science, chemical engineering or related disciplines
  • Comfortable with handson wet laboratory work, following good practices for safe experiment execution
  • Strong interest and knowledge of electrochemistry with data analysis (e.g. voltammetry, EIS, battery cell cycling) and problemsolving skills
  • Experience with handson material characterisation techniques (e.g. SEM, XRD, rheometry) would be a plus
  • Intellectual curiosity, desire to learn from challenges with ''cando'' attitude
  • Team player with excellent communication skills to work in multicultural environment with highly interactive teams
