About the team you are joining:

The role of the Senior Manager Cargo and Ground Operations, IATA Consulting, is to (i) drive business development initiatives, (ii) project-manage consulting engagements, (iii) contribute to the delivery of those engagements, (iv) manage the development of the air cargo, logistics, and ground handling consultancy services and (v) participate in the life of the Consulting practice.

The position is based in Singapore with travel around Asia, and reports to the Senior Principal, IATA Consulting in charge of the Asia region, also based in Singapore.

The position includes some responsibilities beyond Asia across the Consulting network.

IATA Consulting's Cargo and Ground Operations offering in scope of the position includes, but is not limited to:
Air cargo, logistics, and ground handling sector business analysis and market studies, incl:

  • Demand drivers (e.g., macro environment, trade flows, geopolitical developments); market trends (e.g., e-commerce, door-to-door delivery, reshoring of manufacturing).
  • Competitive landscape (e.g., differentiation of the main regional cargo hub airports, consolidation among freight forwarders, shippers, expeditors, 3PL/4PL, etc.).
  • Regulatory trends (e.g., dangerous goods, decarbonization).
  • Technological innovation (e.g., process digitalization and automation).


Air cargo, logistics, and ground handling sector feasibility studies, go-to-market strategies, capital investment plan reviews (e.g., in cargo terminals, freighters), strategic partnerships (e.g.

, with e-tailers);

Air cargo, logistics, and ground handling sector as-is reviews, benchmarking assessments (quantitative and process maturity), best practices and case studies, KPI definition, etc.


What your day would be like:
The Senior Manager Cargo and Ground Operations, IATA Consulting is expected to:
Drive business development initiatives related to air cargo, logistics, and ground handling consultancy services under light guidance from the Senior Principal, IATA Consulting in charge of the Asia region, or other leadership team members as necessary:

  • Monitor the release of air cargo, logistics, and ground handling consultancy tenders.
  • Build and leverage executive relationships in the air cargo, logistics, and ground handling communities in Asia in order to proactively generate commercial opportunities for IATA Consulting, including with hybrid or cargoonly airlines, airports and cargo terminal operators, ground handlers, freight forwarders, expeditors, 3PL/4PLs, ministries and regional development banks or intergovernmental bodies, and prospective or current investors in the air cargo, logistics, and ground handling sector.
  • Qualify opportunities by ascertaining the client's acceptability, need, budget, and buying intent; the project's scope and timeline; the competitive landscape and likelihood of success of the bid, etc. by following the IATA Consulting commercial standard procedure and with guidance from the leadership team as and when required.
  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals, including bottomup budgets, using IATA Consulting's guidelines, templates, and leadership team guidance.
  • Prepare and attend client presentations of those proposals, with support from the leadership team as and when required.
  • Prepare Consulting contracts for those opportunities awarded to IATA Consulting, using IATA Consulting's guidelines, templates, and senior team / admin team guidance.
Lead and contribute to the delivery of Consulting projects, regionally in Asia but occasionally elsewhere in the world:

  • Contribute your own analysis, research, interviews, workshop facilitation, and written deliverables towards the delivery of the projects, including the development of Excel models and the preparation of PowerPoint presentations or Word reports.
  • Attend and facilitate client or other stakeholder meetings (e.g., progress meetings, steering committees) as and when required by the project.

Perform project management activities on Consulting projects, including:

  • Ensure adherence to the contractually agreed scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Coordinate the contract variances, project extensions, invoicing milestones, etc. with the IATA.
  • Consulting Contract Officer supporting the project.
  • Report to, and seek advice, guidance, and peer review from senior team members as and when needed to ensure swift progress and sound methodological choices.
Manage the development of the air cargo, logistics, and ground handling consultancy services:

  • Prepare and keep up-to-date marketing material pertaining to air cargo, logistics, and ground handling consultancy services.
  • Formalize approaches for key service offerings, make them available to the Consulting team and train the relevant Consulting team members in the poles.
  • Collect intelligence on the air cargo, logistics, and ground operations consulting market and offering from competition.
