The Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety (CEMS) is a national R&D centre jointly established by the Singapore Polytechnic and the Singapore Maritime Institute.

It collaborates with the maritime industry and research community to develop innovative digital solutions and training systems to enhance maritime safety, through state-of-the-art research facilities at CEMS, such as South-east Asia's first navigation research simulator.

[What you will be working on]

Responsibilities:

  • Perform scan of the latest simulator technologies at the global level and provide recommendations to CEMS management on the strategies of simulator development
  • Provide indepth knowledge and technical support to the AI team to facilitate the development and deployment of AI solutions to enhance simulator capabilities in training & assessment
  • Perform data collection in the research simulators at CEMS, data preprocessing, storage and maintenance
  • Propose digital solutions to enhance research simulators and immersive technologies to enhance training and assessment for SMA and the industry
  • Work closely with Principal Investigators from SMA and key government agencies to ensure the research work is aligned to the national interest for the maritime industry.
  • Work closely with industry partners to Identify commercialisation opportunities for the research simulators at CEMS.
  • Prepare and present at CEMS Board meetings to update the progress of CEMS projects
[What we are looking for]

Requirements:

  • A good Degree in IT, Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in simulation and/or IT systems
  • Strong project management and decision making skills with proven track records
  • Good understanding of the simulator architecture and related technologies
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Team player who is analytical, resourceful and resultoriented
  • Prior experience in maritime simulator system and AI projects will be an added advantage.

Successful applicant will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
