About the role:

The Lead Product Engineer will be working in a new product category within Dyson's wider product development organisation.

Reporting into the Head of Product Programmes, the role entails working closely with the Design Manager to manage of execution of the deliverables to release new SKUs (Stock Keeping Unit) for both development and ultimately production builds.

The Product Engineer is a key role in the project leadership team to ensure controlled and unambiguous BoM (bill of materials) management as well as co-ordinated development builds both internally and externally at a CM (Contract Manufacturer) aligned to the project delivery schedule.

  • Work closely with Design Manager and Design Leads to ensure BoM accurately reflects design intent.
  • Define and control change management of SKU bill of materials for development builds.
  • Manage release of necessary SKU deliverables ahead of production release (product specifications, verification testing and part releases).
  • Coordinate prototype and engineering build activities, working with external CM as well as internal facilities.
  • Ensure build timings adhere to project schedule, escalating to Project Manager where conflicts arise.
  • Promote culture of identification and resolution of project risks and issues.
  • Complete Product Engineering deliverables on time to meet product development milestone maturity.
  • Promote use and development of best practice through continuous improvement.

About You:

  • Degree in Engineering or Science or demonstrate equivalent experience. Electronics, Mechanical or Product Design is preferred.
  • 7+ years experience of managing product development.
  • Experience delivering within a product development framework preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry to ISO certification QMS standards are preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in SKU development and release management.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX is preferred.
