Job Title: Electrical/Hardware Engineer at XP Power

As an Electrical/Hardware Engineer at XP Power, you will join a dynamic team reporting to the Sustaining Manager/Director of Engineering. Your role will involve providing electrical/hardware engineering services to our global business, specializing in power supply failure analysis and product evaluation for mass-produced power supplies. Additionally, you will act as a technical advisor to enhance the competences of the Asia Engineering team.

  • **Subject Matter Expertise:** Act as a subject matter expert or work towards becoming one for SMPS power supplies across the Asia business.
  • **Collaboration:** Engage and support strategic collaboration with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to align with global objectives.
  • **Process Improvement:** Challenge where necessary and develop best engineering practice procedures and models to enhance the process.
  • **Troubleshooting:** Identify root causes of SMPS power supply issues and provide recommendations for improvement or design changes.
  • **Risk Mitigation:** Provide test plans for impact studies to mitigate risks related to design changes.
  • **Technical Leadership:** Take technical responsibility, identify risks, and drive solutions within projects.
  • **Customer Support:** Analyze customer returns, conduct tests and experiments, and provide failure analysis reports to both internal and external customers.
  • **Communication:** Advise sales/customers on delivery schedules and collaborate closely with various stakeholders.
  • **Team Development:** Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technicians to foster growth.

Qualifications:

  • **Technical Knowledge:** Strong expertise in power electronic converter topologies, AC/DC, and magnetics design with 3 to 5 years of experience in design and engineering projects.
  • **Analysis Skills:** Proficient in tolerance analysis, fault analysis, and practical evaluation of power supply circuits.
  • **Process Understanding:** Familiarity with manufacturing, test, quality, and change management processes.
  • **Problem-Solving:** Good reasoning, analytical skills, and experience with analysis techniques such as 8Ds, Fishbone, DFX, etc.
  • **Additional Skills:** Knowledge in EMC and Safety Design is advantageous, along with a BEng (Honours) in Electrical Engineering / BS Electronics Engineering.
  • **Communication:** Strong technical writing and communication skills are essential.
  • **Leadership:** Ability to lead teams effectively and drive successful project deliveries.
  • **Traits:** Hardworking, dynamic, with a strong sense of responsibility and a team player.
  • **Language Skills:** Proficiency in English is required, while proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
