Purpose of The Job

The Associate is responsible for supporting and assisting in various major tasks, projects, and initiatives within their department or team. It is expected to work closely with senior staff and technical directors to achieve team goals and objectives.

The incumbent will manage clientele and develop business from a regional perspective. He/she will build a regional network and engage proactively with peers within WSP. In delivering projects, he/she will be capable of leading multi-disciplinary teams in the Singapore business and within the region if necessary.

Main Responsibilites

The Associate (Electrical) in the Power Team will undertake gas turbine power plants and renewable energy-related consulting assignments in Asia.

  • Develop strategies on business development in consideration of the market/ megatrends for power, Energy and Energy Transition.
  • Lead and manage group/groups of junior engineers/consultants to deliver requirements of projects accordingly.
  • Size, design, and review the electrical systems for power and energy-related projects.
  • Prepare design specifications and interface with clients, providing technical advice on all aspects of power plant development, including configuration options, LV, MV, and HV equipment selection, systems & components, enabling infrastructure and considerations for project implementation.
  • Support clients technically through project feasibility, project appraisals, procurement evaluations, contractor/vendor engineering, project construction, commissioning, and performance testing.
  • Support proposal development, drawing on WSP's regional and international network of support experts where needed.
  • Prepare the project management and project quality plans and implement them accordingly.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the project team in the project.
  • Maintain client's satisfaction with project performance and follow up on new business opportunities with the client.
  • Provide staff management for own team members with respect to training of work skills and motivation.
  • Observe the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality of the Company and participate in the initiatives from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Master/Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering.
  • At least 15 years of Experience as an Electrical engineer in the power or Energy sector, ideally developed within a professional services/consulting environment.
  • At least 5 years' experience in management role for multinational companies.
  • Leadership skills with strategic mind.
  • Demonstrated diplomatic, management, and communication skills to liaise with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to write technical reports and programmes and deliver presentations .
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to communicate cross-culturally.
  • Progressive experience design and specification of power plant substations, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, system protection and controls would be advantageous.
  • Experience with project management and project planning software tools.
  • Experience of working with public and private sector clients in the Asia region.
  • Knowledge of, or the ambition to learn and develop expertise in, renewable technologies, such as Wind, Solar and BESS, would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of, or the ambition to learn and develop expertise in electrical systems used to manage new fuels such; as biofuel, hydrogen, ammonia etc., would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience of using electrical systems design software such as; ETAP(Electrical Transient Analyzer Program), PSS/E, AutoCad Electrical, PLS CADD, Bentley Substation would be beneficial.
