Design Systems Manager

The Opportunity
Do you have a passion for combining and curating simple atoms and molecules into larger, well defined organisms?


As the Design System Manager, you will work with the Interface design team to evolve the Design Language System to be scalable for business and stakeholder requirements, yet intuitive and user-friendly for our customers across different regions.

You will create global reusable design patterns that solve customer pain points derived from design research, understand the end-to-end customer journey and creatively work around technical constraints to propose reusable solutions that help designers implement their designs.

You are confident in magnifying the design practice by implementing processes and developing guidelines to advocate the use of and govern the Design System.

You are detail-oriented, forward thinking, with the tenacity to solve complex challenges under demanding time constraints.

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborate with the design team, product management, tech development and external agency teams to develop and maintain the Design Language System, ensuring quality and consistency across all products and platforms.
  • Own the Design Language System documentation, implementation and governing process. Define the vision, goals and outcomes across regional teams. Continuously evaluate and improve the design system based on feedback and industry trends.
  • Familiarise working across digital platforms, understand constraints and advantages within those environments. Ensure industry accessibility standards are met.
  • Understand and work with current software platforms and tools to maintain a design system. (Figma Tokens, Asana) Manage and prioritise the roadmap and backlog.
  • Communicate component interaction behaviours and patterns with engineering teams within agile development cycles and understand frontend, API and backend development constraints.
  • Be involved with the product testing process, ensure testing is done at appropriate stages of the development process, from prototypes to User Acceptance Testing phases.
  • Exchange design feedback and review critique objectively. Work with the team to build domain knowledge and capabilities.
You'll succeed because

  • You have at least 6 years of experience as a UX/UI Designer. Half of that time, you should have spent creating, maintaining, and governing a Design Language System. This ain't your first rodeo.
  • Bonus points if you come from a financial, ecommerce, insurtech or fintech industry and have experience working on complex user flows across different regions.
  • You have indepth proficiency with Figma and relevant tools to maintain a Design Language System. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills means that you can lead technical design conversations and share your knowledge with others.
  • You are constantly aware of design trends, accessibility best practices and consumer behaviours in relevant industries. You are quick to learn and adopt new standards and tools.
  • You are a natural collaborator with a growth mindset. You enjoy sharing knowledge and exchanging design feedback with others. Yet you can work autonomously, be selfdriven and meticulous to get the details right.
  • You exhibit grace under pressure and never let your designer's ego get in the way.
