Job Description:

  • Planning, operating and managing all daytoday operations of the pastry and bakery section of the kitchen and liaising with the executive chef to ensure a successful working environment
  • Prepare a wide variety of pastries, baked goods, and confections including but not limited to artisan breads and rolls, muffins, laminated danish and croissants, doughnuts etc.
  • Decorate all pastries using different types of icings, toppings etc. to ensure exciting and tasteful presentation
  • Develop, design and create new ideas and desserts to renew menus and engage the interest of customers
  • Developing new recipes for seasonal menus
  • Ensure excellent quality throughout all offerings
  • Assist in determining how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget
  • Check the quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for baking
  • Operate and maintain all department equipment and reports malfunctions, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures
  • Coordinate activities of coworkers who are engaged in the pastry and bakery section
  • Supervise and coordinate all preparation and presentation in the pastry and bakery section
  • Ensure culinary standards and responsibilities are met in the pastry and bakery section
  • Possess a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with coworkers efficiently and effectively
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors
  • Guide and motivate coworkers to work more efficiently
  • Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Ensure compliances with food hygiene and Health and Safety standards
  • Meeting with customers to discuss details and planning of custommade desserts and pastries for special occasion
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Perform related duties/tasks as required

Requirements:

  • Preferably at least Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor's degree in culinary arts, pastrymaking, baking, or relevant field
  • 2 or more years' experience working within the food industry as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or relevant role
  • Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastrymaking process
  • Applicable knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
  • Creative ability with artistic skill in decorating cakes and other desserts
  • Great attention to detail and creativity
  • Indepth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and nutrition
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Great interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Capable of working in a fastpaced, production environment
  • Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when necessary

Salary:
$1, $2,200.00 per month
