  • We are looking for a passionate Vessel Manager who will be working with Wilhelmsen Ship Management, a comprehensive global maritime group providing over half of the merchant fleet with essential products and services, along with supplying crew and technical management to the largest and most complex vessels ever to sail.
  • With a pool of more than 9,200 seafarers and over 500 shorebased employees all over the world, Wilhelmsen Ship Management is one of world's largest thirdparty ship managers with a portfolio of more than 450 vessels and counting.
  • The position will be located at Great World City
  • West Tower in the heart of Singapore and it is easy to get to by public transportation. This position will report to Fleet Manager.
  • Purpose
  • The Vessel Manager has responsibility for the management of assigned vessels, and reports to FM of the Group


 Interrelations
  • VM reports to FM, and if need be to GM.
  • Assigned vessels Masters report to VM


 Authorities
  • Approve requisitions and RS from assigned vessels as per the requirement/ budget available. Approve payment within the limit of $ 25,000
  • Delegate authority to the internal support functions
  • Approve Management Rank Officer & El/off for assigned vessels
  • Main responsibilities and tasks
  • The Vessel Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and environmentconscious operation of the vessels assigned, typical 46 vessels of own and 3 5 back up vessels (when actual VM is travelling).
  • To ensure vessel/s comply with all relevant rules & regulations with special emphasis on the ISM code, the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 as well as flag state, port state and the industry's special requirements and regulations, and render support to ships as appropriate. VM consults HSEQ for updates in these matters
  • During the absence of a Vessel Manager, the backup vessel manager / Fleet Manager in the respective Group assumes the responsibility.
  • Give support on matters related to technical operations as required.
  • Keep technical statistics.
  • Attend to additional duties as decided during the annual employee dialogue.
  • Analyze and respond to Undesired Events.
  • Give support to his assigned vessels in preparing for Internal/ External Audits and PSC inspections
  • Visits the vessel at least two times in a year
- and sails at least once, to get hands-on feel of vessel condition/ and staff onboard

  • Participate in evaluation of Shipboard Management Systems Review
  • Arrange Management Reviews and ensure actions decided upon are implemented


 Accountabilities
  • Prepares yearly budget, based on the condition and repairs due for the vessels, keeping required standard and safe running of vessel ; and obtains approval from owner
  • Monitors and manages vessel within owner approved budget
  • Welfare of staff onboard
  • VM inspections, and follow ups as per requirements.
  • Keep owner updated on the budget situation time to time; and acts as per their advice; maintains amicable relationship with owner


 Qualifications
  • Mandatory requirements
  • Technical/Maritime qualifications, preferably with seagoing experience as Chief Engineer / Master OR degree in naval architecture or marine engineering with relevant office experience.
  • Good command of oral and written English.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Environmental focused
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills in order to develop close relationships with shipboard staff, vessel owners, charterers as well as internal and external support functions.
