Job Summary:

SGX (May - Aug 2023) Summer Internship Programme

Singapore Exchange (SGX) is Asia's leading and trusted market infrastructure, facilitating the exchange of capital and ideas to create value for people, businesses and economies.

As a multi-asset exchange operating equity, fixed income and derivatives markets to the highest regulatory standards, SGX is a vertically integrated business that provides listing, trading, clearing, settlement, depository and data services.

RegCo Internship Programme

We have roles open in:

  • SPO
  • Listing Compliance
  • Listing Policy & Product Admission
  • Sustainable Development Office

1) SPO:

Brief Overview:

SPO's remit is to improve RegCo's effectiveness through a whole-of-Regulation approach.

Key activities include (i) horizon-scanning to detect and anticipate developing and incipient trends in the regulatory space, (ii) coordinating with other RegCo teams to identify and prioritise areas of focus, and facilitate the planning process that sets the basis for work planning and the development of roadmaps for the medium to long term, (iii) working alongside the communications team on public communications.


Learning Objectives:


The selected intern will learn how SGX's regulatory arm reviews and develops regulatory policies to meet the needs of the market.

The selected intern will be exposed to different facets of SGX's business and long term strategic initiatives as SPO works concurrently on multiple projects with various internal and external stakeholders.


Assist in:

  • Enhancing RegCo's structural frameworks e.g. refining marketwide indicators of market health, recommending followup actions
  • Researching international and regional securities / derivatives market and regulatory developments, analyzing financial market trends (commercial and regulatory) and stakeholder needs
  • Studying specific market / regulatory incidents, e.g. meme trading, instances of alleged/potential market manipulation to understand their potential implications for SGX
  • Cross functional projects relating to sustainability and climate change which could impact the Singapore market
  • Preparing presentation materials and position papers

Knowledge and Skills requirements:

  • Must have good command of English
  • Must have basic knowledge of financial markets
  • Research and report writing skills
  • Able to process large amounts of information quickly and accurately
  • Familiarity with Excel

2) Listing Compliance:

Brief Overview:

Listing Compliance team is in charge of monitoring listed companies' compliance with the continuing listing obligations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Acquire knowledge of listing rules;
  • Obtain an understanding of various corporate actions such as Placements, Rights Issue, Acquisitions and Disposals etc.
  • Develop analytical skills and soft skills such as interpersonal skills, teamwork and presentation competency.
  • Reporting to the Team Leader and Head, Listing Compliance, the incumbent is responsible for managing a portfolio of listed issuers.
  • Monitor compliance with listing rules and liaising with issuers and professionals on regulatory matters.
  • Processing of simple to moderate corporate actions within relevant timeframe.
  • Review financial statements and annual reports.
  • Attend meetings concerning his/her portfolio companies and maintain minutes of such discussions.
  • Provide support to team members.

Knowledge and Skills requirements:

  • Meticulous
  • Some knowledge in Accounting or Finance
  • Interest in reading
  • Good command of English as job requires writing short memorandums
  • Analytical thinking
  • Good presentation skills

3) Listing Policy & Product Admission:

Brief Overview:


The Listing Policy & Product Admission team develops the regulatory listing policy of SGX and manages the SGX Listing Manual.

The team responds to public consultations relating to listing policy conducted by public authorities and international organizations. On an on-going basis, we engage with stakeholders to gather feedback useful to the formulation of rules and policies.
