This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-12. At the GS-11 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12.

Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for assisting in the administration, coordination and preparation of all contract functions required in support of CCN under the guidance and direction of a Supervisory Contracting Specialist. This includes assisting in the execution of the primary regional CCN contract for the region assigned, as well as all modifications and other support contracts required.
  • Multitask and communicate with several stakeholders to ensure that contractual support is provided timely and accurately. The contract specialist will be required to assist the Supervisory Contract Specialist on various, and voluminous, contract modifications that will be required as the VA Mission Act is implemented and changes throughout the life of the contract.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of regular reporting and briefing in support of the Supervisory Contract Specialist in response to senior VA officials as well other Governmental officials and Presidential and Congressional oversight committees and representatives.
  • Assist with the statistical analysis of contract data and contract usage, price and cost analysis, performance and risk analysis, as well as implementation and quality assurance reporting; developing briefs based on data / information collected as well as implementation and quality assurance.

  • To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/27/ year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field.

  • Specialized Experience GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to performing professional work involving the procurement of supplies and services using procedures outlined in the Federal Acquisition Regulations, VA Acquisition Regulations, Public Laws, and Agency policy.
Some examples of equipment, supplies, and services procured include but are not limited to:

medical or facility equipment, medical/surgical supplies, nursing home service, readjustment counseling services, medical services, minor construction, information technology (IT) services to include hardware and software.
