UWCSEA Dover is seeking a Teaching Assistant - Chi nese Department to start in August 2023.


Guided by the Head of the Primary School Chi nese Department and the Chi nese Teachers, the Chi nese Teaching Assistant (TA) will create materials, assist in the organisation and administration of the classroom and support students in support of their Chi nese learning.

Main Responsibilities

  • To support student learning in the Primary Chi nese classrooms under the direction of the teacher.
  • Communicate effectively with students and ensure that their learning is prioritised and supported fully and appropriately.
  • To assist Chi nese teachers in the delivery of the Chi nese curriculum in accordance with the policies, guidelines, framework of the school.
  • To prepare and organise learning resources and materials for class/unit activities, including preparation of and dismantling of students' work display.
  • Engage in all aspects of student learning and curriculum, including tasks for children according to their needs.
  • Monitor, support and maintain record of student progress, wellbeing and behaviour and communicate concerns and successes to the Primary Chi nese Teachers to ensure students are working towards their goals.
  • To supervise students involved in Chi nese activities during lunchtimes and after school.
  • To participate in departmental meetings and professional development sessions as required.
  • Respect the privacy of students and families according to the guidelines of the school

- 观察记录并支持学生的进步; 观察记录并协助学生养成良好学习习惯,实施正确的行为规范,并与中文教师沟通,以确保学生朝着他们的目标努力。
- 在午餐时间和其他课外活动时间协助参与中文课外活动的学生。
- 根据需要参加部门会议和专业发展会议。
- 尊重工作场所个人(学生和家庭)隐私条款.

Person Specifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Chi nese Language or Education would be an advantage
  • Proficient in Chi nese Language, speaking, reading and writing
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
- have a caring and supportive approach to children aged 4-1- be an excellent role model and be a team player
- be adaptable and open to change
- be able to work both under the direction of the teachers, and on their own initiative
- be appreciative of, and sensitive towards, children's differing backgrounds
- be willing to learn and undertake professional development training
- be professional in all interactions within the school setting
- abide by the school's policies and practices, including the code of conduct and confidentiality
