  • Supervises operation and maintenance of power plant generators, switchgear systems, and treatment plants.
  • Initiates and delegates work orders, establishes priorities, and maintains records.
  • Ensures uninterrupted electrical service, water supply, and plant operation standards.
  • Advises on power production equipment status and coordinates with other departments.
  • Orders maintenance parts and coordinates with Utilities Supervisor.
  • Supports ASC metrics and provides safety training to employees.
  • Assists in budget creation, personnel recruitment, and monitoring employee performance.
  • Evaluates job hazards and communicates information to staff.
  • Interprets project requirements and handles confidential matters professionally.
  • Communicates effectively with subordinates, both orally and in writing.
  • Interacts with partner companies, agencies, and officials courteously and professionally.
  • Participates in dormitory chores while deployed to Antarctica.
  • Performs other necessary duties as required.
Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:
  • BA/BS degree required, with minimum two years of supervisory experience in power plant operation.
Expected Skills and Competencies:
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Thorough knowledge of diesel electric generating equipment maintenance.
  • Professional attitude in stressful environments.
  • Working comprehension of electrical distribution and control panels.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
Preferred:
  • Previous experience with remote Polar Logistics operations.
  • Experience with desalinization and wastewater treatment plants.
  • State-issued licenses in water and wastewater treatment plants.
Physical and/or Other Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods.
  • Successful completion of required medical, dental, drug screening, and background checks.
  • Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical activities in extreme conditions.
  • Participation in community programs and possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
