We are looking for an individual to be part of the Blood Services Group (BSG), Blood Supply Management Division.

The appointee for this position will be a Component Processing & Inventory (CPI) Technician who will work in a laboratory setting, supporting the national blood program and is responsible for the processing, testing, inventory management and distribution of blood and blood products from whole blood donations.

All blood units that are collected are processed at the CPI Lab on a daily basis, Mondays - Sundays. On job training will be provided.

[What you will be working on]

**_ Responsibilities:

• Basic whole blood separation and platelet and frozen plasma preparation
• Complex blood component preparation and modification procedures (sterile connecting, filtration, pooling, splitting) to obtain specialised blood components based on clinical demand
• Blood product labelling and proper segregation of nonconformance products from inventory products
• First-InFirst-Out blood product inventory movement for fulfilment of hospital orders
• Cold chain maintenance with proper packing material and configuration for blood transport
• Support general laboratory functions e.g., temperature monitoring and recording, quality data recording, general cleaning etc.

• Able to work weekends and afternoon shifts
• Working experience in a processing/laboratory setting is an advantage
