Job Description

Overview

We are on the lookout for a skilled and driven System Architect specializing in AI Sub-systems to join our R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for spearheading the exploration and design of our next-gen AI sub-system involving multiple heterogeneous devices within high-performance computing (HPC) SoCs.

Our division's primary goal is to leverage cutting-edge AI and cloud technologies to develop top-tier AI inference solutions for advanced driver safety engineers constructing autonomous vehicles and other high-performance computing products. As a prominent supplier in the automotive electronics industry, this is a rare chance to establish the infrastructure needed to deploy our AI software across the billions of devices we supply annually. You will become part of our recently established AI & Cloud Engineering organization which houses around 100 talented software engineers. Given the escalating demand for our AI-related products, we are gearing up to triple our team size in the next three years, presenting a great opportunity for you to contribute to our team's growth. Our focus is on expanding our workforce in Tokyo, Beijing, and Singapore. For candidates residing outside these locations, we are prepared to assist with relocation to one of these sites based on team requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the system solution design of the next generation multi-core, multi-chip AI sub-system that extends beyond 1000s TOPS for high-performance computing.
  • Conduct system validation, use case validation, performance analysis, benchmarking, and modeling to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize system parameters.
  • Deliver efficient solutions that meet the rigorous demands of HPC workloads and effectively communicate them to stakeholders ranging from toolchain, software and hardware teams, domain experts, and technology leadership.
  • Work closely with hardware teams to design and optimize the system's computational elements, including processors, accelerators, interconnects, and memory subsystems.
  • Collaborate with software developers to define and implement software frameworks, libraries, and tools that enhance performance and productivity on the target HPC architecture.
  • Engage with domain experts and application developers to grasp the unique requirements of specific workloads and propose tailored architectural solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Ph.D. a strong plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in embedded system design and development of SoCs and/or ASICs.
  • Prior hands-on experience (over 5 years) in GPU/NPU based sub-systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge across multiple key technology domains such as Camera/Image sensors, Graphics, Audio, Video, Display, AI/ML, Computer Vision, distributed systems, SoC architecture, and RTOS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for articulating complex embedded systems effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities to address intricate performance and scalability challenges.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like C, C++, and/or Python.
  • Ability to translate business and customer needs into actionable items for software and hardware development teams.
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Knowledge of ARM and/or RISCV CPU architectures.
  • Understanding of software stack components including compilers, runtime systems, job schedulers, and scientific libraries.

Preferences

  • Background in performance optimization through software-hardware co-design is advantageous.
  • Experience with engineering tools and workflows for large systems is a benefit.
  • Familiarity with SystemC modeling is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of ARM and/or RISCV ISA is a plus.
  • Experience with FPGA is a bonus.
  • Proficiency in OpenCL/CUDA/SYCL programming is a plus.
  • Understanding of system interconnects like GbE, PCIe, InfiniBand, etc., is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with RTL design is advantageous.
