General description of job/team:

Our department is responsible for operation of Thales DIS infrastructures in our Private and Public clouds.

We are using
ServiceNow to manage our CMDB (Configuration Management DataBase) and to support the main ITSM processes as financial management, incident management, request management and change management.

ServiceNow is a very powerful framework, widely known and used worldwide. It allows deep parametrization and customization to adapt to the need.


In the context of this deployment, we are proposing an internship in link with configuration management database for a student in 3rd year of an engineering school or university master.


What to expect from this internship:

In this internship, you will take in charge the analysis, development & documentation of Data Analysis tooling to support the operation of our Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB) and contribute to SRE's (Site Reliability Engineering) team continuous improvement tasks.


This internship, has 2 main objectives:

CMDB:

  • Rework of the generic naming scheme generation script. The idea is to have a single source of CMDB CIs naming convention.

SRE Related tasks:

  • Review existing API with other tools and homogenise the monitoring.
  • Analysis, development and documenting the automation of some of timeconsuming tasks.
  • To contribute on reducing minor technical debts of the team
Depending, on the progress and priorities, additional topics may be added to the scope as interfaces with other tools, (JIRA, PagerDuty, Slack. )

Requirements:

With this internship, you will have the opportunity to have a wide view and understanding of IT infrastructure management activities;

  • You will acquire knowledge in ITIL standards for IT service management activities.
  • You will develop analyst skills and acquire competencies on a widely deployed software suite
  • ServiceNow.
  • You will work within ServiceNow framework, develop JavaScript pieces for interfaces or customization.
  • You will also have an overview of operation activities and be involved in SRE (Site Reliability Engineering activity ).

Other requirements:

We will appreciate if:

  • You have already experienced working with big software suites(i.e.
ServiceNow, Sales Force, SAP ,.. ) and be interested in the analyst part of the work, as much as development and deployment.

  • You have some useful experience in Java Development, Javascript, and REST interface development.
  • Basic knowledge & experience in Unix scripting (shell, perl)
Looking for undergraduates/master students to join us in March 2023 and commit for a minimum period of 6 months.
