The Challenges


The Radiographer, is responsible for providing prompt imaging services, ensuring safety and deliver good service and care to the patient.

He / She is to take proper care of the equipment and assist senior radiographers in supervising junior and student radiographers.


Duties and Responsibilities
2.1 Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)

2.1.1 Perform general, portable (ward), theatre and emergency radiography.

2.1.2 Perform shift duties after office hours, weekends and public holidays; as well as standby duties

2.1.3 Perform IV cannulation and administer contrast media for radiological examinations, where required

2.1.4 Perform duties in advanced imaging modality Nuclear Medicine or which they are trained

2.1.5 Assist Radiologist in fluoroscopic procedures and other procedures as required

2.1.6 Adhere to safe work practices especially in radiation safety and infection control

2.1.7 Responsible for the safety and welfare of the patient

2.1.8 Responsible for explaining the procedure to the patient

2.1.9 Responsible for general housekeeping of procedure rooms and work areas

2.1.10 Produce radiographs of diagnostic value

2.1.12 Guide and teach junior radiographers in their respective areas of work

2.1.13 Ensure efficient running of their area of responsibility

2.1.14 Coach student radiographers in general radiographic techniques

2.2 Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)

2.2.1 Participate in one or more departmental committees

2.2.2 Coach student radiographers in general radiographic techniques

2.2.3 Perform any other duties assigned by superior
