  • About the Role
  • Reporting to the Head of Risk, Governance and Analytics as part of BHP's Commercial function, you will shape the governance and performance of market and price risk activities across BHP's global commodity portfolio.
  • This role offers you the opportunity to bring your quantitative and leadership skillset to one of the world's largest diversified portfolios managing the impacts of fastchanging and dynamic commodity markets.

    Core Accountabilities
  • Responsible for BHP's commodity price risk and marketing financial performance frameworks and associated controls, governance, routines and capabilities
  • Advisor to BHP's executive committees and senior stakeholders on market risk issues, including portfolio impacts to risk and returns from changes in market conditions, production profiles, customer needs, and strategies
  • Provide thought leadership and drive the evolution of the market risk function
  • Conduct independent market risk analysis of trading strategies and positions.
  • Conduct regular reviews of limits, policies and procedures; assess appropriateness of current and proposed changes, including any system implications.
  • Participate in business project requirements, and provide SME advice on the management of risk, market conventions and system impacts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Nurture a diverse, highperforming team of analysts to deliver the global market and commodity price risk mandate
  • Continuously innovative and digitally enabled, leveraging data, technology, external and internal insights and quantitative analysis skills to collaboratively deliver exceptional business outcomes


About You
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline and professional qualifications in risk, treasury, or finance, e.g. CFA, FRM
  • At least 8 years of experience in a market risk position in a physical commodity trading environment is preferred
  • Deep understanding of advanced financial concepts with strong commodity and/or financial risk management skills to identify, analyse and articulate financial performance and financial risks
  • Capacity to handle uncertainty, assess riskadjusted value of commercial trading and marketing strategies, develop tools to support quantification and translate complex risk insights to wide audience
  • Highly proactive in taking ownership of issues and following them to execution and conclusion
  • Highly capable in leading change and leading teams to high performance outcomes, with demonstrated coaching and excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Digital transformation experience will be highly regarded
