POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Counsellor/ Social Worker

DEPARTMENT:

REPORTS TO: Assistant Manager and Centre Head

is an initiative by SG Her Empowerment Limited ("SHE"), in collaboration with SCWO (Singapore Council of Women's Organisations).

renders assistance to persons experiencing gender based online harms, also known as tech-facilitated gender-based violence. Our services are open to all, including men and women.

We provide help through calls on helpline, text messages through textline, and face-to-face counselling services for victims of gender-based online harms. Examples of the types of harms faced by our clients include online impersonation, cyberbullying, image-based sexual abuse, doxing and others We also collaborate with Pro-Bono SG (PBSG) to provide clients with pro bono legal assistance through regular legal clinics. Victims may also require guidance on filing reports with the police and/or social media platforms.

provides information on resources for online harm and referrals for other services to our community partners. We also conduct public education and training sessions for community partners about online harms, and how to tackle this growing issue.

We are looking for a Counsellor/ Social Worker.

Compassionate individual who has experience offering counselling/emotional support to victims of abuse and trauma. Experience in counselling or attending to victims of online harms is an advantage. Adept at establishing a trusting and therapeutic rapport with people, supporting them as they embark on their journey of healing and coping with the challenges.

The Job:

  • Provide professional counselling services and case management/clinical assessment, and crisis interventions with clients via various platforms, phone, text-based and face-to-face.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling programs on clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on therapeutic experience and knowledge.
  • Collaborate and network with Supervisor and other staff members as part of clients' treatment plans.
  • Prepare and maintain client-related paperwork, including government-mandated forms, client diagnostic records, and progress notes.
  • Manage meetings, group work, and case conferences.
  • Conduct talks and workshops for internal stakeholders, external partners and clients pertaining to online harm issues as part of outreach and education.
  • Coordinate with PBSG for clients who register to either have urgent legal consultations (for urgent cases) or for fortnightly legal clinics (for non-urgent cases).
  • Familiar with the community and institutional setting and network partnership with various stakeholders, community organisations in planning and implementation of the programme.
  • Perform the daily operations of the centre.
  • Assist with other relevant duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Technical Competencies:

· Master's or Degree in Counselling or Social Work (required to have 3 years counselling experience)

· Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience

· Effective leadership and possess team management skills

· Effectively bilingual and proficient in English both verbally and written

· Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

· Self-motivated team player with a passion to serve.

· Singaporean and PR only
