POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, is a capable and experienced technical leader with the responsibility of
ensuring Dolby's manufacturing partners build products as specified and to the quality levels required. This leader
is responsible for the ongoing management and development of a highly effective technical team, ensuring the
delivery of the highest quality products from our suppliers and contract manufacturers, responsible for the direct
management of in-region and remote Manufacturing Engineers and Supplier Quality Engineers supporting our
contract manufacturers, and acting in the capacity of a Manufacturing Engineer or Supplier Quality Engineer as
required.

The individual in this role must have an in-depth knowledge of hardware design and debug, SMT/FATP
manufacturing processes and test methodology, and hands-on experience working in or managing these activities.
The individual selected will participate in engineering activities and manage the team responsible for all aspects of
product build and test through all stages in the product lifecycle, from DFx feedback during product design,
production process issue identification and issue resolution during development, carrying through continuous
improvement and product maintenance activities during production and ramp-down at EOL.

This position requires extensive travel in Asia. Primary day-to-day activity will be at locations in Johor Bahru,
Malaysia with occasional travel to China, and the US. Occasional travel to Penang will be required. An active
passport and ability to travel is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead crossfunctional collaboration and build relationships across the organization
  • Work crossfunctionally with Engineering Design Teams and Program Management to achieve project
milestones

  • Provide DFx feedback during development to drive manufacturability and testability into the product
design

  • Support FMEA and development of solutions to address critical risks
  • Documentation of product requirements for process and equipment specification
  • Process development from concept to production: development, trials, and test
  • During NPI stages and MP, provide onsite support to our manufacturing partners, managing production
line bring-up including fixtures and test stations

  • Works crossfunctionally with Engineering Design Teams and Program Management to achieve project
milestones

  • Design, or oversee the design and development of, the manufacturing process and fixturing at Dolby's
manufacturing partner facilities.

  • Design, or oversee manufacturing partner development of, test hardware and test plans at the PCB and
FATP level

  • Develop, or oversee the development of, test scripts for characterization, production and data analysis
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing yield and provide solutions that address root cause systemically
  • Lead Supplier Quality Activities including supplier audits and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR)
  • Prepare and deliver supplier communications regarding qualityrelated issues as required
  • Lead ME/SQE data collection and review for QBRs
  • Has developed a strong understanding of the measurement tools used in manufacturing and can apply
that knowledge to perfect in-place methodologies

  • Works with the Manufacturing Partner in the design and development of test hardware and test plans at
the PCB and FATP level.

SKILLS AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of direct experience managing the build and test of electronics products with handson
experience in implementing PCBA and FATP-level manufacture, testing, programming, and packaging

  • Minimum 5 years of direct people management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using Industrial Engineering methods
  • Minimum 5 years of new product introduction and Manufacturing Operations experience
  • Must have demonstrated crossfunctional leadership, coaching, employee development, influencing, and
negotiation skills.

  • Partners and collaborates effectively with senior management and coworkers up and down as well as
across the organization.

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills to provide effective communication at all levels of
the organization
