POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Food & Beverage Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of food and beverage operations within Capella Hotel Group. This includes financial accountability, talent allocation and sourcing, partnerships, programming, sustainability & wellness initiatives, merchandising, and operating standards. He / She will have a deep understanding of the food and beverage industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and growth.

He/she will promote organizational alignment by ensuring that the Group's overall business direction and strategies are understood in areas of Food and Beverage Operations. Ensures the implementation of key market service initiatives in all Food and Beverage operations throughout the hotel. Anticipate and quickly seize opportunities to improve hotels' performances and / or other critical success factors.

Drives the Commercial Success of Food and Beverage Operations through working with Property General Managers and Food and Beverage Leaders in driving accountability in meeting Budgets. Drives Partnerships at the Group level in promoting the Capella and Patina Brands. Creates the Framework for Food and Beverage Leaders in being able to deliver on Brand standards, Forbes Standards and Food and Beverage Profitability. Drives an exciting calendar of Reputational building and commercially successful Food and Beverage events for Capella Hotel Group through on property activation, partnership exploration, merchandise and improvements in service delivery.

THE ROLE

Business / Leadership/ Functional Results

  • Lead and facilitate the delivery of sustainable business results against growth and profitability objectives.
  • Lead the execution of operations responsibilities for the area: related services, food and beverage, event management, guest and associate satisfaction, financial management and quality assurance.
  • Play key role in assisting Development in hotel development process, providing expertise to design process for market projects, due diligence and operations excellence. Work with corporate groups as appropriate to ensure smooth development / pre-opening / conversion process.
  • Is strategic business partner to the SVP/President. Provide functional and business expertise and perspective to develop quality products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectation of guest and associates and provide a return on investment to the owners and the Group.
  • Provide leadership to the operations functions by setting priorities aligned with the discipline goals related to key business priorities. Identify service improvements, anticipate challenges, and create competitive breakthrough strategies for the area.
  • Serve as market change agent and provide oversight in the implementation of related programs and key initiatives in the market.
  • Set priorities and drive results through effective people management and processes utilizing reliable tools and leveraging resources to include other parts of the organization.
  • Put in place early warning systems and appropriate metrics to identify and manage business and financial risks. Ensure brand standards are adhered to in the area.
  • Develop processes to enhance communication and sharing of best practices in the area. Coordinate and direct work groups to address common issues.
  • Steering through Monthly Leadership Meetings with Food and Beverage Leaders in driving profitability, product innovation and adherence to brand standards and Forbes standards.
  • Advise owners on operations standards, food and beverage concepts, and quality assurance issues.
  • Sell ideas persuasively and influence without direct authority. Negotiate skilfully in tough situations, settle differences and win concessions without damaging relationships.
  • Working with strategic partners in Food and Beverage procurement in driving access to the highest quality Operating Supplies for Capella at most competitive pricing.
  • Driving best practices as it relates to Sustainability in Food and Beverage Operations.
  • Supporting the Technical Services team in bringing concepts to life from development to opening and promoting successful openings of new Hotel Food and Beverage Operations or in repositioning of existing Food and Beverage operations.
  • Work closely with VP Lifestyle in building strong brand partnership, relationships with local businesses, organizations, and vendors to bring unique and engaging experiences to ensure the guests' leisure and lifestyle experiences in any of the management properties.
  • Collaborating with other departments, including sales and the builder team, to ensure a seamless delivery of all Lifestyle programs and events.
  • Create the framework for Succession Planning for Food and Beverage and Culinary leaders in facilitating the growth of Capella Hotel Group and charting a career path for Food and Beverage Leaders.

Food & Beverage Sustainability and Wellness

  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to minimize environmental impact and promote social responsibility.
  • Lead initiatives to promote health and wellness through food and beverage offerings. Roots, slow food philosophies where pure seasonal ingredients are valued.
  • Collaborate with nutritionists, chefs, and other experts to develop healthy menu options.
  • Educate staff and customers on the importance of nutrition and balanced eating habits.

TALENT PROFILE

Qualification

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related area preferred.

Work Experience

10+ years of progressive experience in hotel industry preferred (e.g., combined experience to include food & beverage, rooms operations, event management, quality assurance).

Excellent food & beverage, event management, rooms operations and quality assurance skills, including experience with strategic planning, budgeting, negotiating and interpreting contracts, SOPs and project management.

Demonstrated ability to operate in a matrix organization.

Excellent project management skills and ability to independently manage multiple projects.

Demonstrated ability to deliver results under tough conditions, even when faced with complexity and ambiguity.

Experience evaluating business trends and developing and successfully implementing new business programs and strategies that enhance business performance.

Forbes Standards Knowledge expert is advantageous

Demonstrated success in evaluating risks and developing proactive strategies and plans to mitigate business issues.

Knowledgeable in managing owner relation issues is preferred.
