DESCRIPTION

The Lead Instrument Engineer reports to the Project Engineering Manager and is accountable for the efficient design effort and coordination of the Sub-Contractor's discipline engineering professionals. Ensuring all designs align with project requirements, are executed effectively in compliance with defined criteria, specifications, and industry standards within the offshore oil and gas sector is a core responsibility. Here is a breakdown of the Lead Instrument Engineer's scope of work:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop design philosophies and deliverables for equipment & facilities operations within the project scope.
  • Supervise a team of engineers or serve as a technical specialist.
  • Interact with project management team and vendors concerning instrumentation matters.
  • Evaluate the optimal control system integration with existing systems.
  • Coordinate with other technical experts to maintain project standards.
  • Ensure adherence to codes, standards, and regulatory requirements during design and engineering processes to prevent project acceptance issues due to errors.
  • Oversee engineering designs, MTO's/BOM's, and As-Built drawings align with Project HSE and Quality policy.
  • Address all COMPANY instrumentation requirements and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Handle non-conformances to the HSE/Quality system appropriately.
  • Interpret design drawings, specifications, and complete design tasks on time.
  • Liaise with Classification Society/Certifying Authority when necessary.
  • Weekly reporting on detailed design progress.

Compliance with HSE requirements:

  • Environmental Aspects & Impacts Assessment.
  • OHS Hazardous & Risk Assessment.
  • Adherence to HSE Regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Instrument and control engineering or relevant field.
  • Prior experience on FPSO projects.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Oil & Gas projects (fixed installations and FPSOs) with substantial Senior/Lead Engineer involvement.
  • Experience with medium/large brownfield and/or greenfield projects in the upstream Oil and Gas sector.
  • Ability to support implementing recommendations from safety studies and workshops including HAZID/ENVID, SIL Classifications, QRA, ALARP assessments, and more.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, decision-making, and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in FEED and detail design requirements.
  • Familiarity with module design requirements.
