XCL World Academy has an immediate vacancy for a
Service Engineer (Facilities) position reporting to the Facilities Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of direct reportees as well as indirect reportees from vendors who provide various services to the school.
  • Ensure that reportees and Indirect reportees are motivated and work as a team for desired results.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are always maintained at all times onsite, including Crisis Management, Business Continuity and Emergency Procedures.
  • Own and supervise any maintenance/expansion project works related to Infrastructure and M&E.
  • Ensure that all facility management functions reporting to the role are properly managed and give the best results to ensure that they meet business requirements.
  • Management reporting on overall facility management operations and key achievements to the Facilities Manager.
  • Responsible for risk management issues and legal and compliance matters.
  • Drive programs to reduce risks and other incidents onsite.
  • Manage all technical and service contracts and tender documentation, develop, and implement procedures and performance measures to ensure efficiency, accuracy and reliability of work methods and systems.
  • Identify areas of potential costsaving measures (Including utility consumption) and drive costsaving measures.
  • Verifying Industry benchmarks on cost/service and establishing a standard for the school to follow.
  • Implement M&E preventive maintenance plan and provide smooth delivery of all soft services.
  • Establish and maintain good relations and effective communications with the customers and team members.
  • Reporting on a monthonmonth basis on various parameters (operational efficiency, achievements, and failures) of each function/vertical reporting to the position.
  • Ensure that the best practice in the industry is followed in all the reporting functions and that continuous improvement in service delivery is available.
  • Device feedback mechanisms to measure the service levels of the various services offered are continuously monitored and improved.
  • Feedback system is to be put into place and followed on a periodical basis.
  • Prepare and manage within the annual operational budget.
  • Prepare and manage within the annual capex budget.

Person Specifications:

  • Minimum Degree or Diploma in any relevant areas of qualifications.
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a school environment.
  • Must have prior experience in some form of vendor management such as FM, security, pest control, etc., either managing or being a service vendor.
  • Knowledge of Computer Room Airconditioning (CRAC), Chiller system, Fire Protection System, Electrical system, Security System, and BMS system.
  • Project Management knowledge for handling minor projects.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Need to have a high level of customer service mindset and ability to interact with the parent community on daytoday operational issues.
  • Ability to empathise with bluecollar workers, walk in their shoes and find solutions for their daily problems/issues.
  • Willing to get hands dirty and walk to the ground to understand the root cause of problems.
  • Resourceful and able to seek alternative solutions to problems when they occur.
  • Able to look at the bigger picture and strategise on the mid and longterm plans for vendor management.
