PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Senior System Engineer is responsible for providing operational support to system infrastructure, assisting clients, resolving technical issues, and conducting root cause analysis. Additionally, managing change requests through processes such as requirement gathering, impact analysis, design, testing, and integrating changes into the existing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Delivery

  • Gather business and/or application requirements on the infrastructure, conduct impact analysis, suggest design/re-design for integration into the existing environment
  • Test systems according to specifications & service level. Perform necessary system programming & configuration where relevant
  • Manage system changes through established change request processes & provide status reports to relevant parties
  • Respond promptly to incidents, investigate & provide temporary and/or permanent resolutions. Provide timely status updates
  • Conduct root cause analysis, implement proactive measures, and monitor their effectiveness
  • Proactively monitor & measure system performance & availability, implement corrective actions for improvement, and maintain system configurations
  • Execute service continuity measures such as backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plans
  • Ensure adherence to ISO, ITIL best practices, change management, release management, incident management, problem management, and configuration management
  • Manage budget, resources, and schedule for system implementation/operation activities, ensuring deliverables meet client requirements and quality standards
  • Establish facility management standards for operational consistency across project/facility management teams

Customer/Team Management

  • Provide technical advice to customers or project teams, lead and assist in bid/proposal development
  • Manage support resources, prioritize tasks, schedule resources, and liaise with project teams

Deployment Phase

  • Participate in the design, build, and testing of environment infrastructure for various services such as Exchange, Lync, Ironport, Redhat, Google Apps, VMWare, GSA, etc.
  • Manage user migration to new infrastructure, ensuring successful transitions

Production Support

  • Ensure smooth operation of Infrastructure Services, manage vendors for hardware replacement, performance tuning, and capacity planning
  • Be on standby for major incident escalations, follow SOP for incident management

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 5-7 years supporting server infrastructure for Redhat Linux, Google Apps, VMWare, Cyrus, GSA, with experience in Nutanix, Hyper-V, Veritas - Enterprise Netbackup
