TheSchool of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science (CoS) atthe Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore seeksoutstanding candidates to apply for a tenure track position at thelevel of Assistant Professor with a research focus in the molecularor cell biology of disease. We encourage applications of candidatesthat have worked on genes, proteins and metabolites involved indisease, regardless of whether their research has been conducted inhumans, animals, bacteria, plants, fungi, or otherorganisms.

SBS is searching for individuals witha well-defined research vision and an outstanding track record ofpublications in top journals. The successful candidate willestablish and maintain an independent extramurally funded researchprogram. The successful candidate is expected to show a strongcommitment to departmental undergraduate and graduate mentoring andteaching.

SBS covers several areas of researchencompassing genetic, structural, biochemical, and cellularinvestigator-led projects offering many opportunities forinterdisciplinary collaborations not only within the school butalso with other departments in the university. SBS/NTU offerscutting-edge infrastructures, such as state-of-the-art structuralbiology and biophysical facilities (Titan Krios Cryo-EM, Rigaku FRXX-ray generator, BLI, ITC), confocal microscopy, a complete set ofproteomics facilities and a modern computer cluster. The successfulcandidate will have ample opportunities to access otherstate-of-the-art facilities on campus and to establish fruitfulcollaborations with other Schools and Research Institutes oncampus.

Requirements:

Weare seeking a highly motivated individual ready to lead a dynamicresearch team and address fundamental biological problems. Thesuccessful candidate is expected to establish his/her researchgroup at SBS/NTU, focusing on topics that may include but are notlimited to, molecular biology of pathogenicity, bacterial and viraldiseases, pathogen genomics, epigenetics, transcriptomics,proteomics (and other omics), emerging diseases, host-pathogeninteraction, pathogen drug resistance, and drug-pathogeninteractions. We also welcome researchers working on cancers andmetabolic diseases studied in any model system. We are particularlyinterested in exceptional candidates who adopt an integrated,cross-disciplinary approach and are enthusiastic about capitalizingon the diverse and complementary expertise available within ourfaculty.

Competitive applicants for theAssistant Professor position should have a strong record ofresearch productivity and a well-developed researchplan.

In addition to developing internationallyrecognized research, teaching excellence is also expected of thesuccessful candidate. The candidate is expected to teach bothgeneral and advanced undergraduate courses, as well as graduatecourses inbiology.

Qualifications:

Thecandidate should have a relevant Ph.D., preferably in Biology, withpostdoctoral or other professional experiences in related researchfields.
