The Role

We are seeking a passionate and talented Drama and Dance Specialist to inspire our Junior students. The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with extensive experience in teaching Dance and Drama at the primary school level. The successful applicant will nurture creativity, build confidence, and showcase student talent through engaging performances, a dynamic curriculum, and high-quality teaching practices. The role involves teaching the Dance and Drama curriculum, as well as leading and supporting the co-curricular program, including performances and events within the Junior School. A proven track record of successful productions and performances would be advantageous. The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and the wider community is essential.


The role reports to the Head of Junior School through the Deputy Head Academic (Junior School) and the Head of Drama (Junior School).


Teaching & Learning

  • Manage an effective, orderly and safe learning environment.
  • Develop the Dance and Drama curriculum to ensure that it is engaging and challenging for all students.
  • Support the termly curriculum for each year group in the Junior School.
  • Lead and support CCAs for each year group in the Junior School.
  • Deliver the curriculum to assigned classes in accordance with the school’s timetable.
  • Differentiate delivery according to the abilities and learning strategies of individual students.

Planning & Development

  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of curricular and co-curricular initiatives according to the school’s calendar.
  • Contribute to individual and team tasks and targets for the Junior School Improvement Plan (SIP) and the School’s Self Evaluation Form (SEF).
  • Assist the Junior Head of Drama to liaise with Heads of Drama in Infants and Seniors to develop continuity and progression in the specialist subject across key stages.
  • Develop cross-curricular links and provide opportunities for students to develop and apply their PE skills, including events and competitions in Singapore and overseas.
  • Make a positive contribution to the development of the Junior School.
  • Attend relevant professional development sessions to enhance ongoing professional skills and knowledge.

Assessment, Recording & Reporting

  • Keep detailed records of plans, and achievements of individual students, alongside summative assessment.
  • Report to parents in accordance with the school’s reporting policy as laid down in the Staff Handbook.

Communication & Liaison

  • Collaborate effectively with the STLA support staff within the department.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings of a professional nature as and when required.
  • Contribute to the strengthening of the parent-teacher partnership in individual and whole school initiatives as and when required.

Pastoral & Co-Curriculum

  • Promote a culture of creativity and artistic expression by encouraging participation in the arts for children of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Follow the school’s policies and procedures with regards to discipline and behaviour, daily routines, duties, home learning, leave of absence, and visits, as laid down in the Staff Handbook.
  • Fulfil supervision roles during lunches and break times.
  • Participate in Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) across the school at a level to be agreed with the Junior School Assistant Head Co-Curriculum.
  • Embrace and lead on the school’s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Be responsible for reporting any concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
