We seek to appoint apostdoctoral Research Fellow (fixed term, 30 months) to work onuncertainty quantification in LLMs.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Manageown academic research and administrative activities. This involvessmall scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects ofthe work to meet deadlines.
- Develop independentresearch questions, propose new methodologies to improve onexisting methods and contribute ideas for collaborative researchprojects.
- Assist the PI in mentoring,supervising and coordinating the activities of junior researchersand students of the research project.
- Leadsmall teams of students, software engineers, research assistantsand other junior researchers to formulate and address researchquestions within the purview of the project; and assist the PI inmentoring and supervising them.
- Act as a sourceof information and advice to other members of the researchteam.
- Publish and present papers at conferencesor public meetings.
- Work with industry andgovernment partners to understand their research needs andformulate solutions.
- Contribute to outreach,communications and reporting as required to funders andstakeholders. Represent the research group at externalmeetings/seminars, either with other members of the group oralone.
- Help organise and actively participatein regular meetings and seminars within thegroup.
- Assist in raising research funds throughgrant applications.
- Carry out some relatedteaching and other works for the College that takes into accounttheir career aspirations and developmentgoals.
JobRequirements:
EssentialCriteria
- Close to completion or hold arelevant Ph.D. with post-qualification research experience instatistical machine learning, and deep learning or large languagemodels.
- Strong publication record andfamiliarity with the existing literature and research in the fieldof statistical machine learning, and deep learning or largelanguage models.
- Possess sufficient specialistknowledge, research skills and interests in statistical machinelearning, and deep learning or large language models to work withinestablished research programmes and contribute ideas andsolutions.
- Ability to independently plan andmanage a research project, including a researchbudget.
- Possess strong collaboration abilitiesin person, on paper and over electronicchannels.
- Excellent communication skills,including the ability to write for publication, present researchproposals and results, and represent the research group atmeetings.
DesirableCriteria
- Possess strong technicalknowledge and abilities of deep learning and large languagemodelling frameworks (pytorch, jax, huggingface) as well as popularopen-source codebases and LLM APIs.
- Experienceof supervising staff.
- Experience of managing aresearch budget.
- Ability to raise researchfunds through making grantapplications.
