Job Overview:
The Identity Defense Specialist plays a critical role in researching, designing, engineering, implementing, and supporting solutions to prevent and detect anomalous use of accounts. This role will support the design and implementation of new processes, controls, and governance related to the monitoring of both human and non-human accounts to protect the Bank.
As an Identity Defense Specialist, you will utilize technical expertise and business knowledge to help implement scalable solutions, including monitoring, alerting, and escalation frameworks focused on core account protections. By leveraging your knowledge of both common and emerging threats related to account takeovers, you will proactively develop and influence security controls, policies, and best practices within the digital identity domain. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and line-of-business leaders is key to managing and reporting on security incidents, and you will be expected to maintain excellent communication, both with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Alert Investigation & Incident Response: Actively investigate alerts related to potentially anomalous behavior or activity. Communicate findings and next steps to response and business partners.
- Security Analysis & Reporting: Provide detailed analysis and comprehensive documentation of investigative activities, actions, and decisions. Present findings in clear, concise language to key stakeholders, translating technical details for non-technical audiences.
- Monitoring & Automation: Build and monitor Splunk alerting systems and dashboards. Identify areas for process automation, simplification, and improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness of monitoring efforts.
- Risk Management: Continuously assess risk related to account security and implement relevant mitigation strategies. Provide updates to executives and stakeholders, covering risks, impacts, containment, and remediation efforts.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with both internal and external experts in cybersecurity and identity management. Collaborate effectively with leaders from line-of-business organizations to triage security events and report on impacting security incidents.
- Continuous Improvement: Leverage experience to proactively develop, implement, and influence controls and policies to mitigate emerging threats. Look for opportunities to improve existing processes and develop new solutions to strengthen the Bank's overall identity defense.
- Support & Teamwork: Support your team by providing assistance when needed and working collaboratively to achieve shared goals. Be adaptable and maintain focus in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- On-Call Support: Be available for occasional non-standard hours, including on-call duties during nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on cybersecurity operations.
- 2+ years of experience in an operations-focused information security role.
- Proven experience in investigating and containing data breaches or cybersecurity incidents.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong ability to analyze data and evaluate relevance to ongoing security investigations.
- Familiarity with security vulnerabilities, exploits, and hacker techniques.
- Proficient with identity management standards, social engineering TTPs, and the incident response lifecycle.
- Proficient with Splunk, including the ability to build queries, alerts, and dashboards.
- Knowledge of current authentication-based exploits.
- Strong understanding of risk management practices and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication:
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience presenting findings in written reports and oral presentations to senior leadership.
- Certifications:
- Security+ or similar certifications are a plus.

Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in investigating account takeovers or digital identity-based attacks.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and emerging trends in digital identity defense.
