Job Title: Utility Engineer

Job Overview:

The Utility Engineer will lead efforts in identifying, mapping, and verifying underground utilities for a major infrastructure project. Responsibilities include using advanced technologies like Electro-magnetic Locator (EML), Multi-Channel Ground Penetrating Radar (MC-GPR), and Geo-located Point Cloud (GPC) surveys to provide accurate utility mapping, conduct trial trenching, and produce comprehensive reports for project progress.

Key Responsibilities:Phase 1: Planning and Preliminary Study
  • Review utility services and as-built plans.
  • Plan non-invasive detection methods like EML and MC-GPR.
  • Conduct surveys and propose Geo-located Coordinated Utility Plans (Geo-CUP) for approval.
Phase 2: Utility Mapping and Survey
  • Lead underground utility detection using non-invasive techniques.
  • Conduct trial trench surveys using GPC technology (LiDAR, photogrammetry).
  • Update and submit the Geo-CUP for approval based on collected data.
Phase 3: Verification and Finalization
  • Oversee additional trial trenching for final verification of utility data.
  • Submit final Geo-CUP with updated, verified data.
Site Coordination and Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and authority requirements.
  • Maintain detailed reports, identifying discrepancies between utility services plans and actual site data.
Final Documentation and Reinstatement
  • Oversee trial trench backfilling and site reinstatement, including road surface restoration.
Resource Management
  • Manage resources (equipment, labor, materials) to meet project timelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of utility surveying experience, including non-invasive detection and trial trenching.
  • Proficiency with MC-GPR, EML, GPC technologies (LiDAR, photogrammetry).
  • Experience in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and working with GeoCUP data.
  • Strong knowledge of the SVY21 coordinate system and Singapore Height Datum (SHD).
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Valid Singapore driving license and ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in utility detection and safety practices.
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects in Singapore.
