We are currently recruiting oneResearch Associate who will join the laboratory of Professor SimonRedfern at the Asian School of the Environment, NanyangTechnological University (NTU), to work closely with the lead PI tobuild the experimental programme, maintain instruments andcoordinate with the internationalcommunity.

KeyResponsibilities:
  • Developlaboratory experiments to synthesise and study materials at extremetemperatures, pressure and under controlled chemicalenvironments
  • Prepare literature surveys tooutline research / technology development in thefield
  • Employ and develop experimental methodsusing high-temperature furnaces, one atmosphere gas-mixingfurnaces, diamond anvil cells as well as piston cylinderapparatus
  • Characterisation and analysis methodswill include FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, EPMA, electronmicroscopy, X-ray diffraction and XAS, and allied techniques, usingboth in-house and international synchrotron and neutronsources
  • Participate in research program,including research experiments and datacollection
  • Prepare reports and documentationsfor the research programs, and support dataanalysis
  • Assist in duties related to labsafety, documentation, training of student researchers andoutreach


JobRequirements:
  • Master'sdegree in Materials Science, Materials Chemistry or ChemicalEngineering or a related field
  • Proficiency ineither Diamond Anvil Cell (DAC) high pressure experiments or LargeVolume Press (LVP) high pressureexperiments
  • Evidence of published output inrelevant scientific literature
  • Basicunderstanding of the scientific principles behind the researchactivities
  • Attention to detail andprocedures
  • Effective communication and reportwriting skills
  • Willingness to learn and developnew skills
