Roles & Responsibilities

The Therapy Assistant shall support the physiotherapists for assigned tasks deemed as appropriate. The TA shall only perform tasks delegated by the physiotherapist(s). Applicant(s) should possess good experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, trained & certified in sports massage specifically.


Clinical

1. Delivers manual remedial therapy sessions.


2. Preparation for Therapy Session:

• Assist in preparing patient before, during and at the conclusion of a treatment

• Prepare and set up facility, environment and clinical or therapy equipment, including technology-related therapeutics

• Clean up environment and equipment after therapy session

• Any other preparation before or after therapy sessions as required by the department or supervising physiotherapist


3. Manual Handling

• Transfer minimal, moderate and maximum assistance patients, with assistance and/or equipment where needed


3. Assessment and Outcome Measures

• Assist physiotherapists during assessment or re-assessment of patients

• Assist physiotherapists during outcome measures


4. Interventions

• Monitor patients during therapy activities

• Assist physiotherapists during the delivery of therapy plans for patients

• May assist in setting up and applying selected therapeutic modalities, splints or devices

• May assist in implementing segments of one-to-one therapy interventions under supervision of the physiotherapists

• Assist physiotherapists during wound care management where necessary


5. Communication

• Demonstrates ability to receive patient related precautions and session details as explained by primary physiotherapist

• Demonstrates ability to appropriately communicate results of the assessments and/or therapy session to the primary physiotherapist

• Demonstrates ability to terminate session and to quickly and effectively escalate to primary physiotherapist where necessary

• Ability to communicate where assigned work or tasks exceed acceptable scope of practice or training and escalate to senior professional staff.


Administrative

1. Manage patients’ schedule

2. Billing; perform data entry, billing into system and payment collections

3. Inventory Control

• Clean and adhere to infection control/ hygiene standards of therapy equipment and devices

• Assist in maintenance and simple repair of therapy equipment

• Check and maintain equipment, linen and clinic inventory

• Record & verify sales of appliances and consumables.

• Maintain & distribute patient education materials and clinical supplies.

• Assist in performing audits such as billing, sales items, equipment movement, etc.

4. Other administrative duties as deemed appropriate by the department or supervising Therapist


- Six (06) days work week, including full work day on Saturdays.

- Rotational shift works ending 7pm.
