Contract Role- estimated 1 year

Location : Benoi shipyard

Shift work required ( Day/night rotation)


· Assist in laboratory operations, including the selection and setup of equipment for online and portable monitoring and sampling of power plant water purity and quality.

· Conduct experiments and tests to monitor and improve chemical composition related to the management of the water purity.

· Monitor analytical processes and take remedial actions where deviations / discrepancies arise impacting the quality of analytical results, while reporting to the chemist.

· Re-analyze analysis samples when control results are not within the acceptable range.

· Ensure safe handling and storage of industrial chemicals in compliance with safety regulations and best practices, both for Company and its affiliated stakeholders.

· Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and procedures, and prepare reports as needed.

· Collaborate with Chemist and other team members to optimize processes and troubleshoot issues.

· Participate in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure reliable results, both portable and online systems.

· Take & receive and water and steam samples brought into the lab for accountability.

· Prepare samples for testing with HACH portable equipment and WI.

· Work with GTCC Tech team for Chemical dosing adjustments and manual chemical handling.

· Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting

· Report any apparatus or equipment which, to your knowledge, is not functioning correctly to the Chemist.

· Assist in the procurement and placement of all consumables, equipment, and fixtures.

· Assist in the general / preventive maintenance of equipment and housekeeping of the laboratory.

· Maintain and record equipment faults.

· Laboratory Housekeeping - Ensure and maintain work areas and equipment are clean, tidy, and organized.

Compliance with Safety Protocols and Local Regulatory - follow workplace safety initiatives, ensure and maintain proper sample disposal of wastes or water generated as a part of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with the disposal regulations and requirements; React appropriately and immediately to emergency situations and assists other employees in maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies within the workplace.


Requirements:

· Diploma in Chemistry or a related field.

· Knowledge of safe handling practices for industrial chemicals.

· Experience in selecting and setting up equipment and processes for the testing of water purity in a new laboratory.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.

· Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

· Problem solving skills.

· Have experience in selecting and setting up of equipment and processes to recover precious metals including gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium is an advantage.

· Possess experience and the ability to operate ICP / XRF is an advantage.

Must be willing to work shift work night/day rotations.
