Our studio is currently looking for a Game Data Engineer to join our multi-talented team. The role will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data pipelines, infrastructure, and tools that enable the analysis and optimization of player experiences, monetization strategies, and game performance. The Game Data Engineer will report to the Marketing Manager and work closely with other stakeholders (e.g. Game Designers, Server team etc.) to transform raw game data into actionable insights that drive business and game development decisions.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Data Pipeline Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, efficient, and reliable pipelines to process large volumes of game and player data.
  • Optimize data processing workflows to ensure high performance and low latency for real-time data needs.

Database and Infrastructure Management

  • Develop and manage databases to store and organize game and user data effectively.
  • Implement robust data warehousing solutions to facilitate easy access to aggregated data.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of data systems.

Collaboration and Integration

  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager, Game Designers and Server team to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with respective teams to ensure seamless integration of data pipelines with gaming backends and other systems.

Data Quality and Governance

  • Implement data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies to maintain compliance with data privacy regulations.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization

  • Monitor data systems and pipelines for performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Continuously refine and optimize processes to improve efficiency and scalability.

Exploration and Innovation

  • Explore emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering and gaming analytics.
  • Develop proof-of-concepts to experiment with new tools and frameworks that enhance the data infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with MMP (otherwise willing to take initiative and learn from documentations on MMP sites)
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative-related field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science etc.
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering or analysis roles, preferably in the gaming industry.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, data visualisation tools (such as Tableau or Power BI), and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and iterative development environment.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
  • Passion for games and a deep understanding of game mechanics and player behaviour is a plus.
