Position Intro:


CMachine Data Platform is seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. As an AI Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in a team focused on providing strategic AI and data science solutions for the Company. The results of your work will be visible at the Company’s scale and you will contribute actively to the improvement of Konecranes employees productivity/efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, data processing, AI (including, but not limited to generative AI), and cloud technologies, with proficiency in SQL, DataBricks, PySpark, AWS Athena, S3, Kinesis, Python, TypeScript, Node.js.


Your Key Responsibilities


Data Collection and Processing: Acquire, clean, and organize large datasets from diverse sources for analysis.


Model Development: Develop, implement, and test machine learning models and algorithms to address specific business problems. Good understanding of machine learning notions such as neural networks, NLP, classification, regression, clustering, random forests, etc.


Data Analysis: Perform complex data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business decisions.


Model Optimization: Continuously refine and improve models for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.


Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, industry, and business stakeholders to integrate models into business processes. Collaborate in person and through digital channels with teams in Finland, France (Lyon) and other global Konecranes units across the globe.


Visualization: Create clear and compelling data visualizations and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. This includes both one-shot visualizations as well as continuously updated interactive dashboards.


Deployment and Monitoring: Oversee the deployment of AI models into production and ensure their performance is maintained over time.


Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of models, processes, and findings to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing.


Compliance and Ethics: Ensure all data handling and model development practices comply with relevant ethical guidelines and legal standards, including but not limited to the EU AI Act and other relevant European regulations.


What should you bring

  • Previous experience in generative AI, prompt engineering and natural language processing (NLP)
  • Experience using machine learning and deep learning for anomaly detection
  • Experience applying dimensionality reduction techniques and feature engineering
  • Proven experience in data science technologies, particularly in AWS and Azure environments.
  • Basic knowledge of software engineering and agile methodologies. Git and DevOps knowledge.
  • Knowledge of DataBricks and PySpark.
  • Strong understanding of generative AI concepts such as Large Language Models (LLM), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) etc.
  • Skilled in creating interactive dashboards and visualizing complex data insights to support decision-making
  • Good understanding of data quality challenges associated with IoT devices and the ability to detect such issues effectively
  • Good knowledge of SQL for both data exploration and data processing.
  • Experience with AWS services, including Athena, S3 and DynamoDB.
  • Good programming skills in languages such as Python (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Scikitlearn, Seaborn), R, TypeScript.
  • Comfortable with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of Node.js is a plus.
  • In addition, we expect you to have a suitable educational background (preferably Master’s degree in data science, information systems, information networks, software development, computer science or a related field) and excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
